Hinsdale, IL - April 27, 1954 - April 10, 2026
With heavy hearts and profound admiration, we announce the passing of Mary Cruise, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, who left this world peacefully on April 10, 2026, just shy of her 72nd birthday. Born in Hinsdale, Illinois, Mary was the cherished daughter of the late Gordon and Marion (Powers) Campbell. Her life was a tapestry of love, dedication, and unwavering kindness to those around her.
Mary met the love of her life, Dennis Cruise, and together they embarked on a beautiful journey, exchanging vows on July 18, 1972, in Joliet, Illinois. Their marriage was a testament to enduring love, marked by devotion and mutual respect. Together, they nurtured a family that became her greatest pride and joy.
Mary's heart was immeasurably full when it came to her family, especially her grandchildren. They were the center of her universe, and she cherished every moment spent with Samantha, Emily, Cassandra (Jacob), Andrea, and Matthew. Her daughter, Geanean (Bill) Misener, was the light of her life, and Mary found immense joy in the holidays spent at Geanean's home, where laughter and love resonated through the walls.
Mary's brotherhood and sisterhood with her siblings, Patricia Vance, Ronald (Joann) Campbell, David Campbell, and Gayle (Edward) Rasmussen, were among her most treasured relationships. She was predeceased by her parents, her son Dennis Cruise Jr., and her siblings Gordon Campbell Jr., Eugene Campbell, Gerald Campbell, and Bruce Campbell, as well as her brother-in-law, James Vance, and sister-in-law, Cindy Campbell. She cherished the memories of those who went before her, finding solace in the belief that they are now reunited.
A devoted homemaker, Mary transformed her house into a home filled with warmth and love. Her passion for gardening was evident in the vibrant blooms that adorned her house, earning her the accolade of the most beautifully decorated house in the neighborhood. Mary's creative spirit shone through in her whimsical tradition of dressing her concrete teddy bear for every season, bringing joy to all who passed by.
Summers were particularly special for Mary, spent at the Beach Club where she created enduring memories with her family. She was incredibly proud of her son's service in the military, and her heart swelled with pride for his dedication and bravery.
Mary's kindness extended beyond her family, as she was a devoted supporter of the Pet Project, an organization close to her heart. Her compassion for animals was a testament to her gentle and nurturing spirit.
As we bid farewell to Mary, we take comfort in knowing that her love and legacy will continue to live on in the hearts of her family and friends. Her life was a beautiful story of devotion, joy, and an unyielding love for those around her. Mary Cruise will be dearly missed but lovingly remembered by all who were fortunate to know her.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to the Pet Project, ensuring that Mary's passion for caring for animals continues to have a lasting impact.
A celebration of Mary’s life will be held for family and friends to gather, share memories, and honor a truly remarkable woman. Details will be announced in the coming days. Mary’s spirit will forever remain a guiding light for her family, illuminating their path with the warmth of her love.
