Mary Coussens
June 15, 1938 — February 23, 2026
Mary Coussens, a vibrant spirit whose love and laughter brightened the lives of all who knew her, passed away peacefully on February 23, 2026, at the age of 87. Born on June 15, 1938, in Utica, Michigan, Mary was the cherished daughter of Hugh Henry Hamilton and Margaret Bohman Hamilton.
Mary's life was a tapestry of devotion and joy, woven together with threads of family, faith, and an unyielding zest for life. A proud graduate of Utica High School, she carried the lessons and friendships from her early days into her adult life, always cherishing the community that shaped her.
On June 20, 1959, Mary married the love of her life, Patrick Coussens, in a ceremony rich with love and surrounded by family in Utica. Together, they built a beautiful family and shared a marriage that was as strong as it was tender, lasting until Patrick's passing on July 3, 2022. Patrick affectionately called her "Rusty," a nod to her fiery red hair and spirited nature, a testament to their deep bond.
Mary was blessed with two sons, Craig and Todd, who, along with their wives Melisa and Kristi, brought endless joy to her life. Her legacy extends through her treasured grandchildren—Kathleen and her husband Juan Flores, Cody, Amanda and her husband Josh Jordan, Jennifer, Megan and her husband Jake Fenoglio, and Hutson Kees—as well as her beloved great-grandchildren Alexander Flores, Cooper and Kenny Fenoglio, Carley and Jackson Jordan.
An active member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Katy, Mary found fulfillment in her faith and community service, contributing tirelessly to the church's Altar Guild. Her life was a testament to the power of compassion and commitment, leaving behind a legacy of kindness and service.
Mary's warmth and resilience were as boundless as her laughter. Known for her happy demeanor and a heart full of compassion, she embraced life's challenges with the stubborn determination characteristic of her Scottish roots. Whether playing cards with family and friends or offering a listening ear, Mary's presence was a gift to all.
A celebration of Mary's life will be held on March 2, 2026, at 1:30 PM at St. Paul's Episcopal Church, located at 5373 Franz Road, Katy, TX 77493. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to St. Paul's Episcopal Church or The International Order of the Rainbow for Girls, organizations close to Mary's heart.
Mary Coussens leaves behind a legacy of love, strength, and an indomitable spirit. Her memory will forever be cherished by her family, friends, and all those fortunate enough to have crossed paths with her during her remarkable journey.
