Mary Catherine Zagorski

April 6, 1927 — May 5, 2026

Mary Catherine Zagorski, a beloved matriarch and cherished friend, passed away peacefully on May 5, 2026, at the age of 99. Born on April 6, 1927, in Varilla, Kentucky. Mary Catherine, often affectionately known simply as "Catherine," lived a life that was as vibrant and nurturing as the garden she so lovingly tended. Catherine was predeceased by her devoted husband, Theodore Stanley Zagorski, LtCdr, USN, whose memory she cherished deeply. Together, they built a family grounded in love, respect, and laughter. This legacy continues to flourish through their children: Janice Timpano, Donald Zagorski, Michael Wayne Zagorski, and Sandra Anne Pristas. Catherine's nurturing spirit and guiding hand extended to her six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren, each of whom carries a piece of her heart. After completing her education, Catherine embarked on a career as a stenographer, a role that honed her meticulous nature and attention to detail. Yet, it was her life outside of work that truly defined her. An avid gardener, Catherine found joy in watching her flowers blossom, much like she delighted in the growth and accomplishments of her family. Music was another of Catherine's passions, and her home was often filled with the gentle strains of her favorite tunes, creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere for all who visited. Her artistic talents found expression in painting, sewing, and needlework, crafts that she pursued with the same dedication and love that she gave to her family. Catherine's life was a tapestry woven with kindness, humor, and grace. She possessed an innate ability to uplift those around her, offering unwavering support and unconditional love to her children and grandchildren. Her wonderful sense of humor brought joy to all who knew her, turning ordinary moments into cherished memories. The beach held a special place in Catherine's heart. Family vacations by the shore were treasured times, filled with laughter and the simple pleasure of being together. These moments were the essence of Catherine's life—a celebration of family, love, and the beauty found in everyday experiences. As we bid farewell to Mary Catherine Zagorski, we remember a life well-lived and a woman deeply cherished. Her legacy of love, laughter, and generosity will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to know her. A service will be held to honor Catherine's extraordinary life. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Catherine's name to a charity of your choice, celebrating her spirit of kindness and giving. Mary Catherine Zagorski, your laughter will echo in our hearts forever, and your love will remain our guiding light. Rest in peace, dear Catherine.
