In Loving Memory

Mary C Bertolini
March 29, 1948 — March 14, 2026
It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Mary C. Bertolini, a beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, who departed this life on March 14, 2026, at the age of 77. Born on March 29, 1948, in Joliet, Illinois, Mary was the cherished daughter of Luiggi and Eerdma, who preceded her in death.
Mary’s life was a tapestry woven with love, resilience, and a profound dedication to her family and community. She was a proud graduate of JJC, and her career with the state employment office was marked by her unwavering commitment to helping others find their path and achieve their potential. Her colleagues often spoke of her kindness, integrity, and the genuine care she showed to everyone she encountered.
Mary found joy in the simple pleasures of life. She loved to travel, exploring new places and cultures with a curiosity and enthusiasm that was truly infectious. Her kitchen was a sanctuary of warmth and delicious aromas, as she took great pleasure in cooking for her family and friends. Whether it was a quiet evening watching television or a peaceful nap, Mary found comfort in the familiar and the everyday.
She was married to Salvador Figueroa, with whom she shared many cherished memories, and later, she found companionship with Oscar Martinez. Although she faced the unimaginable heartache of losing two sons, Mary’s strength was a beacon of hope to those around her. She is survived by her devoted sons, Pete and Carl, and her adored grandson, Matthew, who was the light of her life.
Mary’s final days were characterized not by her illness, but by the calm and comfort that surrounded her, held close by those who loved her dearly. Her legacy is one of love, compassion, and an unyielding spirit that will forever remain in the hearts of those she touched.
A celebration of Mary’s life will be held on April 12, 2026, at 6:00 PM at the Seed of Life Christian Center, located at 21514 Division St, Lockport, IL 6044. As we gather to honor her memory, we will be guided by the words of "The 23rd Psalm," a prayer that held special meaning for Mary and offered her peace throughout her life.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to all who have provided kindness, prayers, and support during this difficult time. Your presence and love have brought immeasurable comfort.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Mary’s name to a charity of your choice, reflecting her spirit of giving and her dedication to making the world a better place.
Mary C. Bertolini will be profoundly missed, but her spirit will forever light the way for those she leaves behind. May she rest in eternal peace, embraced by the love she so generously shared with the world.
