It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Mary C. Bertolini, a beloved mother, grandmother, and cherished friend, who left this world on March 13, 2026, at the age of 77. Born on March 29, 1948, in Joliet, Illinois, Mary lived a life rich in love, warmth, and dedication to those she held dear. Mary was the cherished daughter of Luiggi and Eerdma, who instilled in her a deep sense of family values and resilience. She is predeceased by her loving parents and two sons, whose memories she held close to her heart throughout her life. She is survived by her devoted sons, Pete and Carl, and her treasured grandson, Matthew, who brought immense joy to her life. Mary's journey through life was marked by a commitment to service and community. She graduated from JJC and dedicated her career to helping others through her work at the state employment office. Her colleagues remember her as a compassionate and diligent professional, always ready with a kind word and a helping hand. Her personal life was filled with love and adventure. Married to the late Salvador Figueroa, Mary later found companionship in Oscar Martinez. These relationships brought her happiness and companionship, enriching her journey through life. Mary was a woman of many interests. She found joy in traveling, exploring new places, and creating lasting memories with those she loved. At home, she was known for her culinary skills, delighting family and friends with her delicious meals. She enjoyed the simple pleasures of watching TV and found solace in rest and relaxation, balancing her active life with moments of peace. In her final days, Mary faced a serious infection with grace and courage. Those who knew her remember not the illness, but the peace that surrounded her, as she was cared for with tenderness and compassion, held close by the people who loved her most. A celebration of Mary’s life will be held on April 12, 2026, at 6:00 PM, at the Seed of Life Christian Center, located at 21514 Division St, Lockport, IL 60441. During the service, we will be comforted and inspired by the words of the 23rd Psalm, a testament to her faith and the guiding light she was to so many. As we gather to honor Mary, we extend our deepest gratitude to all who have supported us during this difficult time. Your kindness, prayers, and compassion have brought us immense comfort. We are profoundly grateful for your presence and love as we remember and celebrate the extraordinary life of Mary C. Bertolini.
