Mary Alice Burns, a cherished soul and beloved member of the Cheraw, South Carolina, Cash community, passed peacefully on September 16, 2026, at the hospital surrounded by her loving daughter and aunt. Born on September 10, 1964, Alice was the beloved daughter of Vance Burns and Dorothy Sellers. She was predeceased by her father and mother , Vance Burns, and Dorothy Sellers leaves behind a legacy of love and kindness. Alice, life was built on the foundation of family, friendship, and a passion for nurturing young minds. She graduated from Cheraw High School in the class of 1982 and briefly attended Nova Community College, where she began her journey toward a career in childcare. For over 30 years, Alice, devoted herself as a daycare provider, pouring her heart into the lives of countless children. Her dedication and love for her work left an indelible mark on the community. Alice’s warmth extended beyond her professional life. She was the devoted mother of Nechelle , with whom she shared countless cherished moments shopping and dining out. She was a loving sister to Rufus McClendon . Jimmy Ham, James Ham , Keith Sellers, Bernard Devitt, Terry Burr, Katrina Bostic and Cynthia Farmer .Three aunts and two uncle and close cousin, Michelle McClendon, and a circle of dear friends also held a special place in her heart. Additionally, She shared many happy years with her longtime partner, Paul. A woman of faith, Alice excepted Christ at an early age . She attended Macadonia Baptist church in her youth and found joy in singing in the choir. Her compassionate nature knew no bounds; she was always ready to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. Known for her loving and caring spirit, Alice was truly the nicest person to know. The family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to all who reached out, supported, and stood by them during this difficult time. Your kindness and compassion have been a source of comfort and strength. Mary Alice Burns will be dearly missed, but her legacy of love and kindness will forever remain in the hearts of those she touched.
