Mary Anna, a cherished soul and beloved matriarch, passed away peacefully at her home in Edinburg , TX on September 26, 2026, after a brief illness . She was born on October 10, 1932, in Monroeville, Alabama, to Troy Edward Hall and Emma Rhea (Steadman) Hall. Her life was a testament to love, resilience, and a deep commitment to family and community.
A true Southern lady, Mary Anna attended Clarke County High School in Jackson, Alabama, before furthering her education at Huffstetler Business School in Mobile. Her thirst for knowledge led her to continue her education at the University of South Alabama, preparing her for a successful career. She began her professional journey at the First National Bank Trust Department and later retired as a supervisor in the S.D. Warren Division at Scott Paper Company in 1988.
Mary Anna's faith was a guiding light throughout her life. Raised in the First Baptist Church of Monroeville, she later attended Northside Bible Church and found her final church family at Providence United Methodist Church. She was also a proud member of the Order of Eastern Star, Loyalty Chapter in Geneva, Alabama.
Her life was enriched by her marriages to three wonderful men, each bringing new adventures and joys. With her first husband, George Van Daugherty, she raised her daughters, Jane and Mary, and shared a love for fishing, camping, and University of Alabama football games. Her second husband, Walter James Wellman, sparked her love for travel, taking her on journeys across Europe and to her beloved Yellowstone National Park. Her final spouse, Clyde O’Neil Bloodworth, shared her passion for music. Together, they filled their home with melodies, Mary Anna at the piano and Clyde with his pedal steel guitar. Her musical talents extended to the dulcimer, which she taught herself to play with great proficiency.
Mary Anna's wit and graciousness were the hallmarks of her personality. She was known for her sharp sense of humor and her ability to love fiercely. Her warmth and elegance made her a beloved figure in the lives of all who knew her.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Troy and Emma Rhea Hall, her husbands, George, Walter, and Clyde, and her beloved Shih Tzu, Phoebe. Her legacy lives on through her daughters, Jane Peeks (David Kilcrease) and Mary (Gilberto) Zepeda, her grandchildren, Nancy (Tim) Coker, Patrick (Cathy) Keller, Keith (Lori) Keller, and Dena Rigdon, as well as her bonus grandchildren, Junior Zepeda and Debbie Zepeda. She was a proud great-grandmother to Connie Cline, Grace Stewart, Caleb Smith, Cady Keller, Chloe Keller, Chase Keller, Finlay Van Keller, and Davina Gonzalez, and bonus great-grandmother to Taylor Vaughn and Shade Zepeda. Her love also extended to her great-great-grandchildren, Chloe Andrews, Jake Andrews, Rylan Andrews, Harper Andrews, Cash Stewart, Stella Simmons, Sadie Pritchett, and Everleigh Davidson. Additionally, she is survived by cherished nieces, nephews, and sisters-in-law, Nell Daugherty and Hilda Hancock, along with dear friends Mayra Couvillion and Flaviana Ruiz.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to Amable Home Care for their compassionate care during Mary Anna's final days, with special thanks to Rick, Alicia, and her devoted caregiver, Cely.
