Mary Ann (Hermansen) White

December 1, 1932 — May 6, 2026

Mary Ann (Hermansen) White, a beacon of love, kindness, and unwavering spirit, peacefully departed this world on May 6, 2026, at the age of 93. Born on December 1, 1932, in the serene town of Ely, Nevada, Mary Ann's life was a testament to the values of compassion, resilience, and dedication. The daughter of David L. Hermansen and Elma K. Hermansen, Mary Ann was shaped by a nurturing family environment alongside her siblings, David W. Hermansen, Joyce Hermansen McCoy, and Hartley Hermansen. A proud graduate of Mineral County High School in 1950, her journey continued at Reno Business College, where she studied from 1950 to 1951. In the vibrant town of Hawthorne, Nevada, Mary Ann met and married her beloved husband, Harry E. (John) White, on April 18, 1952. Their union was a tapestry of love, woven through shared dreams and enduring companionship, until John's passing. Together, they raised three wonderful children, Debbie Carone, John White, and Susan McConnell, who were the heart of her world. Mary Ann's career began at the Hawthorne Naval Ammunition Depot, but her true calling emerged in the clothing retail industry. Her roles at Hughes Clothing Store and later as a manager at Fidels Clothing Store illuminated her natural ability to bring joy to others. With a career spanning over 30 years, Mary Ann's radiant smile and genuine warmth made her a cherished presence among colleagues and customers alike. She retired in 2004, leaving an indelible mark on all who had the privilege to know her. A lifelong member of the Church of Latter-Day Saints, Mary Ann's faith was a cornerstone of her life. Her community was enriched by her contributions, and her spirit of giving was felt by many. Her passion for baking was legendary; cookies and candies crafted with love became tokens of her affection, shared generously with family and friends. Mary Ann was predeceased by her loving husband, Harry, her parents, David and Elma, her brother David, and her sister Joyce. She leaves behind a legacy of love through her surviving family: her devoted children Debbie (Tony), John (Tracey), and Susan (Michael); her treasured brother Hartley (Arlene); 11 grandchildren; and 28 great-grandchildren, each a testament to her enduring influence. Those who knew Mary Ann will forever remember her as one of the nicest people, her smile a bright light in their lives. Her humility, grace, and boundless love will be profoundly missed but never forgotten. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly invites donations to be made in Mary Ann's memory to a charity of your choice, celebrating the life of a woman who gave so much to others. Mary Ann's life was a beautiful symphony of love, dedication, and simple joys. As we say goodbye, we cherish the memories she leaves behind, holding her spirit close in our hearts forever.
