It is with heavy hearts and profound gratitude for a life well-lived that we announce the peaceful passing of Mary Ann Dewitt, who departed this world on March 14, 2026, at the age of 80. Encircled by the love of her family and friends, Mary Ann's journey on earth concluded in the comforting embrace of her home. Born on September 18, 1945, in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, Mary Ann was the cherished daughter of the late Thomas and Sara Robinson.
Mary Ann’s life was a testament to love, resilience, and selfless dedication. She shared a beautiful journey of 58 years with her beloved husband, Robert Dewitt, whom she married on October 28, 1967. Together, they created a nurturing home filled with laughter and love, raising two wonderful children, Tim Dewitt and Cheryl Smith (Dejuan). Mary Ann's legacy continues to flourish through her grandchildren Antonio, Ryshawn, Lauren, Brianna, and Brian, who were the light of her life. Her extended family, including a host of nephews, nieces, and friends, will fondly remember her warmth and kindness.
A graduate of Denham Springs High School in 1963, Mary Ann dedicated her life to her family as a devoted homemaker and mother. Her kitchen was her sanctuary, where she delighted in preparing meals that brought everyone together, fostering a sense of belonging and joy. Known for her gift of making everyone feel welcomed and valued, Mary Ann's home was a haven of warmth and love.
Mary Ann was an active member of Roberts United Methodist Church, where she found a community that shared her values of compassion and service. Her faith guided her life, and her gentle spirit touched all those fortunate enough to know her.
In her leisure, Mary Ann found joy in the simple pleasures of life. She loved watching her favorite show, "Columbo," and cherished every moment spent with her family. Her laughter was infectious, and her presence brought comfort and joy to all who knew her.
Mary Ann was predeceased by her loving parents, Thomas and Sara Robinson, her devoted husband, Robert Dewitt, her brother, Anthony Robinson, and her sister, Rosalee Henry. Though they have left this world, their love continues to surround her.
A service to honor and celebrate the life of Mary Ann Dewitt will be held on March 21, 2026, at 11:00 AM at Roberts United Methodist Church, located at 201 Julia St, Denham Springs, LA 70726. The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to Seale Funeral Services and Roberts United Methodist Church for their compassionate care and professionalism during this difficult time.
Mary Ann leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness, and unwavering devotion to family and friends. In our hearts, her spirit will continue to inspire and guide us.
