Born on November 9, 1948, in the quaint town of Bishopville, South Carolina, Mary Ann was the beloved daughter of the late Perry LeJohn Boykin and Lillie Mae Wilson Boykin. She was predeceased by her parents, her daughter-in-law Elizabeth "Bett" Catoe Kelly, and her siblings Ruby Cox, William Boykin, Eddie Boykin, Charlie Boykin, and Perry LeJohn Boykin Jr. Mary Ann is survived by her devoted son, Samuel "Bookie" Kelly, whose life she enriched with her unwavering support and love. She was the proud grandmother of Sydney Kelly, who, alongside her partner Patrick Huggins, brought immense joy to Mary Ann's life with the birth of her great-grandson, Houston Huggins. Her family was the center of her world, and she delighted in spoiling them every chance she got. A woman of remarkable character, Mary Ann possessed a toughness and work ethic that inspired all who knew her. Her kind heart and tough-love sense of humor endeared her to many, forming lifetime friendships during her dedicated years at Fowler Hospitality. Mary Ann was also an active member of Sandhill Heights Baptist Church, where her faith and compassion found a welcoming home. In life's quieter moments, Mary Ann found joy in cooking, shopping, and embarking on adventures with her best friends, affectionately known as "The Golden Girls." Alongside Myrtie Cochran and Cathy Lamb, Mary Ann shared countless memories and laughter, a testament to the enduring friendships she so deeply cherished. Her "sister-in-love," Doris Kling, held a special place in her heart, providing familial bonds that transcended traditional ties. In honoring Mary Ann's wishes, a private funeral ceremony will be held, allowing her closest family and friends to reflect on the profound impact she had on their lives. The family extends heartfelt gratitude to Doris, Myrtie, and Cathy for their unwavering commitment and companionship, along with the compassionate care of Via Health Partners and Hospice Care.
