Martina "Tiny" Williams

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Martina "Tiny" Williams, a cherished mother, grandmother, sister, friend, and beloved member of the Richmond community. Martina departed this world peacefully at home on September 16, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family. She was born on May 20, 1951, in Richmond, Virginia, to Nannie Louise Williams Nash and Hiawathia Phillips. Martina was a beacon of light to all who knew her, known for her quick wit, sharp tongue, and warm smile. She had an extraordinary ability to uplift others, always ready with a joke to lighten the mood. Her sense of humor and infectious laughter will be missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing her. Educated in the Prince Edward County Public Schools, Martina went on to work as a dedicated cook at Phillip Morris, where she eventually retired. Her passion for cooking extended beyond her professional life, as she also enjoyed catering, sharing her culinary delights with family and friends. A woman of many talents, Martina was an avid fill-in puzzle solver and a card enthusiast. She proudly held the title of the "unofficial" spade champion of the world and was also a formidable opponent in dominoes and pokeno. Her vibrant spirit and love for games brought joy to countless gatherings. Martina's faith was an integral part of her life. She was an active member of the Greater Mt. Moriah Baptist Church, where she formed lasting friendships and served her community with grace and devotion. Martina was predeceased by her beloved husband, Raymond Stevens; her parents, Hiawathia Phillips and Nannie Lou Nash; her sisters, Elizabeth Simmons, Martha Phillips, Thelma Phillips, Rosetta Phillips, Annie Lee Ellis; and her brothers, Spencer "Butch" Garrison and Mitchell Williams. Her memory will be cherished by her surviving family: her daughters, Joyce Phillips (Denard), Melvina Baylor (Derek), and Gabriel Conner (Kristal); her sister, Drucella Williams King; her brother, Jerome Williams; her brother-in-law, Robert Stevens; her grandchildren, Elijah Phillips, Ebony Pittman, Evan Phillips (Jessica), Chantelle Thurston, Cameron Robinson, Cody Baylor, and Kaci Smith; her goddaughter, Levone Ferrell; and her great-grandchildren, Karter, Miles, Cairo, and Ella. Martina also leaves behind devoted friends Denard Price, Mary Gregory, Gerena Smith, and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins. The family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to nurse Vivian Raynor for her compassionate care, and to the staff at Affinity Hospice for their ongoing assistance and support during this difficult time. A service to celebrate Martina's life will be held on September 28, 2026, at 1:00 PM at Greater Mt. Moriah Baptist Church, located at 913 North 1st Street, Richmond, VA 23219. In honor of Martina's generous spirit, donations may be made to a charity of your choice. Martina "Tiny" Williams will be dearly missed, but her legacy of love, laughter, and kindness will live on in the hearts of those she touched.
