In Loving Memory

Martin Post
June 26, 1946 — May 4, 2026
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Martin Post on May 4, 2026, at the age of 79. Born on June 26, 1946, in Asbury Park, New Jersey, Martin was a man of integrity, humor, and steadfast love, who devoted his life to his family, his country, and the natural beauty of the world around him.
Martin was the beloved son of Tom and Betty Post, who predeceased him, along with his cherished granddaughter, Winnie Overstreet. He is survived by his loving wife of 40 years, Eloise Post, who stood by his side through thick and thin. Together, they built a life filled with love and joy, raising three wonderful children: Laura, Maddox (with Nadine), and Abigail (with Will). Martin also leaves behind three adoring grandchildren, Nora, Wren, and Teddy, who were the light of his life.
A man of remarkable dedication, Martin graduated with honors from the United States Air Force Academy, marking the beginning of a distinguished 30-year career in the United States Air Force. His service was marked by numerous commendations, reflecting his commitment to duty and his unwavering sense of honor and honesty.
Beyond his professional accomplishments, Martin was known for his quick wit and infectious sense of humor, traits that endeared him to friends and family alike. He was an avid reader, always eager to explore new ideas and perspectives.
Martin's love for the outdoors was evident in every facet of his life. He was an avid outdoorsman who found solace and inspiration in nature's grandeur. His passion for National Parks was a gift he eagerly shared with his children, ensuring that they too experienced the awe-inspiring beauty of these natural treasures.
Perhaps one of Martin's most cherished roles was that of "Papaw" to his grandchildren. Each summer, he hosted "Camp Papaw," a time filled with laughter, adventure, and the kind of memories that would last a lifetime. His ability to tinker and create brought joy and wonder to those around him, as he shared his skills and stories with the younger generations.
In his final days, Martin was surrounded by love, passing peacefully at home with Eloise and Laura by his side, after a courageous battle with a neurological disease. His family extends their heartfelt gratitude to Martin's dedicated hospice care team, compassionate neurosurgeon, and caring nurses, who provided invaluable support during this difficult journey.
A private funeral ceremony will be held to honor Martin's life at his family estate in New Jersey, as per the family's wishes. In lieu of flowers, the family encourages donations to be made in Martin's name to a charity of your choice that supports the preservation of National Parks.
Though he is no longer with us, Martin Post leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and a life well-lived. He will be deeply missed but forever remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him. May his soul find eternal peace in the beauty he so cherished.
