Martin Luther Castilow, Jr.

February 24, 1953 — June 10, 2026

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Martin Luther Castilow, Jr., a beloved father, grandfather, brother, and friend. Martin, affectionately known as “Marty” to those who cherished him most, passed away peacefully on June 10, 2026, at the age of 73. Born on February 24, 1953, in Liberty, Texas, Martin was the cherished son of the late Martin Luther, Sr. and Caldonia Castilow, who precede him in death. Martin's journey began in the warm, welcoming embrace of Liberty, Texas, where he grew up alongside his sisters, Patsy Donatto and Peggy Castilow, who both remain in Liberty and held a special place in Martin's heart. He graduated from Liberty High School in 1971, and soon after, he answered the call of duty by enlisting in the United States Navy. Martin proudly served his country aboard the USS Saratoga, where he forged lifelong friendships and gained a profound respect for the sea and the camaraderie of his fellow servicemen. Known for his love and deep knowledge of sports, music, and the art of conversation, Martin was a man who brought warmth and joy to every gathering. His laughter and stories were the threads that wove together the rich tapestry of his life—a life filled with cherished memories and beloved traditions. Whether it was discussing the latest game, sharing a new tune, or simply enjoying the company of those he loved, Martin's presence was a gift to all who knew him. Martin's legacy lives on through his children, Aurellio Ramone and Monisha Samone, who were the pride and joy of his life. He treasured his role as a father and grandfather, always offering support, wisdom, and unconditional love. Martin's heart was especially touched by his granddaughters, Raquel Monae and Aubrey J'hene, with whom he shared a unique and special bond. His family expanded to include 13 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren, all of whom he adored and who will carry forward his spirit and love. A celebration of Martin's life will honor his remarkable journey, his dedication to family and friends, and his unwavering spirit that touched the lives of many. As we gather to remember Martin, we celebrate a life well-lived and a legacy that will endure in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to a charity that supports veterans, honoring Martin's service and dedication to his country. May we all find comfort in the memories we shared with Martin and take solace in knowing that his legacy will continue to inspire and uplift those who follow in his footsteps. Martin Luther Castilow, Jr. will be deeply missed, but his memory will forever live on in the stories, laughter, and love he leaves behind.
