Martiese Jamon McKay

August 10, 1995 — April 18, 2026

It is with profound sadness and yet a sense of peaceful remembrance that we announce the passing of our beloved Martiese Jamon McKay, who left this world on April 18, 2026. Born on August 10, 1995, in the warm embrace of Vicksburg, Mississippi, Martiese graced us with 30 remarkable years of joy, laughter, and inspiration. Martiese was the cherished son of Latonya McKay Lush and the late Frederick Freeman. From a young age, Martiese's presence was a beacon of light to all who knew him. His father, Frederick, predeceased him, but Martiese carried his legacy with grace and honor, embodying the virtues of kindness and strength that his father instilled in him. A proud graduate of Woodland High School's Class of 2014, Martiese's academic journey was marked by curiosity and a deep love for learning. His teachers and peers remember him not only for his dedication and intelligence but also for his warm-hearted nature and infectious smile. Martiese was blessed with a loving family who surrounded him with unwavering support. His mother, Latonya McKay Lush, was his greatest confidante and friend. He is survived by her and a host of devoted family members, including his aunts, Chantel McKay, Kimberly Miller (Douglas), and Kiettra Carithers (Rece); his uncles, Terry McKay (Latina) of Grand Rapids, MI, and Larry McKay (Anitra) of Vicksburg, MS; as well as Walter Freeman and Dontay Freeman, who all held a special place in his heart. Though Martiese's journey ended too soon, his spirit lives on in the hearts of those who loved him. He joins in eternal rest his paternal grandparents, Patricia Ann Freeman and Walter Freeman Sr., as well as his maternal grandparents, Eunice McKay, Luster Price, and George Otis, who surely welcomed him with open arms and loving smiles. Martiese had a gift for bringing people together, his laughter a melody that made any gathering feel like a celebration. He was a compassionate soul, ever willing to lend a hand or share a kind word. His legacy is one of love, resilience, and an unyielding spirit that will continue to inspire all who were blessed to know him. As we remember Martiese, let us celebrate the beautiful life he lived and the many ways he touched our hearts. May his memory be a guiding light, reminding us to cherish every moment and to live with purpose and love. A visitation will be held to honor Martiese's life, offering a moment for family and friends to gather in reflection and gratitude for the time we shared with him. Details will follow for those who wish to pay their respects and share in the celebration of Martiese's remarkable journey. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to a charity of your choice in Martiese's memory, as a testament to the generous and caring spirit he embodied throughout his life. Rest in peace, dear Martiese. You are dearly loved and will be profoundly missed, but your spirit will live on in our hearts forever.
