It is with heavy hearts yet profound gratitude for a life well-lived that we announce the passing of Martie Glenn Gumm on August 9, 2026. Born on November 21, 1949, in Franklin, Kentucky, Martie's life was a testament to kindness, resilience, and unwavering love for family and friends. He was a cherished son to Lila and Artie Gumm, who preceded him in death, along with his siblings Darryl, Selwyn, Johnathan, and Marreta. Martie's journey through life was marked by his deep love and commitment to his family. He shared a beautiful life with his beloved wife, Veronica Peace Gumm, whose companionship was a constant source of strength and happiness. Together, they built a family filled with love and laughter, raising their children Dane X. Gumm, Danielle X. Gumm, Tenia Smith, and Sherri Morris, who is married to Jason. His sons Mark Gumm, married to Elora, and Michael Gumm, married to Mya, carried forward Martie’s legacy of kindness and integrity. Martie has eleven grandchildren: Miyelle, Giovanni, Preston, Eli, Ethan, Emerson, Edison, Alana, Alea, Aneela, and Ali. Each grandchild was a source of pride and happiness for Martie, who delighted in their accomplishments and cherished their time together. Martie's life was enriched by his many passions and interests. He was a man who appreciated the simple joys of life, whether it was sharing stories from his childhood in Franklin, Kentucky, or spending a quiet afternoon in the company of his loved ones. His compassionate nature and generous spirit left an indelible mark on all who knew him. Martie's passing was peaceful, surrounded by the love and care he had always shown to others, at Clifton Heights Rehabilitation Facility. Though he is no longer with us, the memories he leaves behind will forever guide and comfort his family and friends. In honor of Martie's memory, the family suggests making a donation to a charity of your choice, reflecting the generosity and compassion that Martie embodied throughout his life. As we say farewell, we hold close the love and joy Martie brought into our lives, and we find solace in knowing that his spirit will continue to watch over us all.
