Born on March 27, 1944, in South Carolina, Martha graced this world with her presence, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, and an enduring spirit. Martha was the cherished daughter of Henry and Mary Ann McClinton, who instilled in her the values of kindness and compassion. She was predeceased by her parents, her brother Haywood McClinton, her sisters Sarah Catherine Hill and Mary Alice Stafford, and her loving daughter Melvina Joyner. Her memory will forever remain in the hearts of her surviving family members, including her devoted daughter Sondra Fletcher, her caring sister Annie Birks, and a large extended family of nieces, nephews, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, cousins, and friends. With 8 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren, Martha was the matriarch of a vibrant family. Her home was a sanctuary of warmth, where laughter was abundant and love was unconditional. Martha's legacy of humor and joy lives on in each of them. Martha dedicated over 15 years of her life to serving at the state hospital in Poughkeepsie, NY, and later brought smiles to many while working at Candy Land. Her professional life was marked not only by her tireless work ethic but by the genuine care and camaraderie she extended to her colleagues. A woman of faith, Martha was once an active member of the Holy Light Church, a family-run establishment that nurtured her spiritual journey. Her love for music was profound, and she expressed it through her involvement with the Gospel Jewels, a group she formed with her two sisters and two nephews. Blessed with a dynamite voice, Martha's singing was a testament to her deep connection with God and her community. Martha was known for her "crazy cool" sense of humor, a gift she shared freely with those around her. Her laughter was infectious, and her ability to find joy in the simplest moments was a testament to her resilient spirit. She loved to smile, crack jokes, and bring light to any room she entered.
