Martha Jane Nixon Clark
December 19, 1940 — March 6, 2026
With profound sadness, we announce the peaceful passing of our beloved Martha Jane Nixon Clark, who left this world surrounded by love on March 6, 2026. Born on December 19, 1940, in the charming town of Ballinger, Texas, Martha's life was a testament to love, resilience, and unwavering kindness.
The daughter of Rupert Myles Nixon and Jessie Pearl Cash Nixon, Martha grew up with the values of hard work and compassion. She shared a close bond with her brother, Rupert Myles (Jim) Nixon, who predeceased her. A proud graduate of Ballinger High School, Martha’s early years were filled with the warmth and camaraderie of her Texas roots.
On December 9, 1960, Martha married the love of her life, William Grady Clark, Jr., embarking on a journey that would span decades. Together, they built a family grounded in love and respect. After Grady’s passing, Martha's resilience and grace only deepened, as she continued to nurture her family and live a life full of purpose.
Martha was a dedicated professional, working for the Ballinger Independent School District as a secretary for both the Junior High and High School. Her commitment to education extended as she served as a substitute teacher, alongside assisting her husband at his insurance office. Her career evolved as she became an adept Office Manager and Bookkeeper for various businesses, reflecting her versatility and dedication.
Beyond her professional life, Martha was a vibrant member of her community. Her love for bridge brought her joy and connection with friends at the Ballinger Country Club. She was an avid reader, finding solace and adventure within the pages of books. Known for her radiant smile and friendly nature, Martha never met a stranger, embodying a spirit of warmth and openness wherever she went. Her younger years were marked by a love for dancing and music, passions she cherished throughout her life.
Martha’s greatest pride was her family. She was the cherished mother of Kyle Clark and his wife, Debbie, and their children, Haley and Nathan; as well as her daughter, Lisa Clark, and her son, Phillip. Her three grandchildren were the light of her life, and she was their most enthusiastic cheerleader, celebrating every achievement with boundless joy and pride.
Preceded in death by her beloved husband Grady Clark, Jr., her parents Myles and Jessie Nixon, her brother Jim Nixon, and her in-laws Grady Sr. and Gladys Clark, Martha is survived by her loving children, grandchildren, and a community of friends who will forever cherish her memory.
Martha Jane Nixon Clark’s life was a beautiful testament to love, kindness, and enduring strength. Her legacy will continue to inspire those who had the privilege to know her. As we bid farewell, we remember her with gratitude and celebrate a life well-lived.
A memorial service will be held to honor Martha’s life, details of which will be announced shortly. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to a charity close to Martha’s heart, in her memory.
