Martha Goodman, beloved mother, cherished friend, and devoted grandmother, peacefully departed this life at Bon Secour Hospital on August 3, 2026. Born on May 3, 1962, in Richmond, Virginia, Martha was the beloved daughter of William and Mary Goodman. Her life was a testament to love, laughter, and the relentless pursuit of joy. Martha's journey was marked by her expansive warmth and vibrant spirit. She was a woman of many stories, each told with such joy and laughter that she could light up any room she entered. Her brilliant smile and contagious laughter were a reflection of her outgoing, smart, and ambitious nature. Martha graduated from PH39 in Brooklyn, New York, where she laid the foundation for a life filled with exploration and learning. Driven by a sense of duty and service, she proudly served her country in the Air Force for five years, a testament to her dedication and strength. An avid traveler and enthusiastic shopper, Martha embraced the world with open arms. She had a passion for bowling, often joking that she could bowl anyone out of an arena with her competitive spirit and skill. Martha's greatest joy came from her family. She is survived by her loving children: sons Billy Hillard and Ron Smith, and daughters Rachel Goodman and Kayla Smith. Her legacy continues through her five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren, each carrying a piece of her spirit forward. Martha was also blessed with the companionship of dear friends Sarah, Lisa, and Beverly, who shared countless moments of joy and comfort with her. A celebration of Martha's life will be held on August 8, 2026, at 1:00 PM at St. Mary's Church in Richmond, VA. The family invites all who knew and loved Martha to join them in remembering a life beautifully lived. In remembrance of Martha, donations may be made to a charity of your choice.
