Born on January 21, 1955, in Russellville, Alabama, Martha peacefully transitioned at a local hospital, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, and compassion.
Martha was the beloved daughter of the late Mr. Ralph Hillman and Miss Syblean Cooper. She was also the cherished sister to her predeceased siblings, Ernest Hillman, Melvin Cooper, and Lisa Cooper. Despite these losses, Martha continued to be a pillar of strength and love for her surviving family members, including her brothers, James Edward Cooper, Frank Cooper, and Oscar Cooper, and her sisters, Miss Rita Cooper, Miss Carolyn Cooper, and Miss Diane Cooper. Martha's family circle was further enriched by her special niece, Miss LaTonya Howard, and a host of other nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who will forever hold her memory dear.
Though never married, Martha shared a deep and enduring companionship with her special friend of many years, Mr. AB Taylor. Together, they created countless memories, filled with warmth and joy, that will be cherished forever.
Martha had a natural affinity for nurturing and creativity. Her love for babysitting brought joy to many families, as she dedicated years to taking care of children, who all came to adore her as a second mother. Her talent for sewing was remarkable; she delighted in tailoring clothing and had a unique flair for creating exquisite purses and accessories that reflected her vibrant spirit.
Martha's personal qualities were as colorful as her creations. Known for her cheeky sense of humor, she had a knack for making those around her laugh, brightening the darkest of days. Her love for dancing and having a good time was infectious, drawing people together and fostering a sense of community wherever she went.
A service to honor and celebrate Martha's life will be held on May 3, 2026, at 5:00 PM at the Rock Springs CPCA. The family extends their heartfelt thanks to everyone for all acts of kindness, which have been greatly appreciated during this time of sorrow.
