Martha-Anne Furbush DeFeo
November 9, 1949 — July 2, 2026
It is with heavy hearts and profound sadness that we announce the passing of Martha-Anne Furbush DeFeo, a woman whose warmth and love touched the lives of everyone she knew. Martha left this world on July 2, 2026, at the age of 76, surrounded by her loving family and the comforting embrace of those who cherished her deeply.
Born on November 9, 1949, in Beverly, Massachusetts, Martha was the beloved daughter of George P. Furbush and Phyllis Furbush. From a young age, her life was a testament to love, perseverance, and the power of a kind heart. She carried these values throughout her life, impacting all who crossed her path.
Martha is survived by her former husband, Michael D. DeFeo Jr., with whom she shared a lifetime of memories and a profound love for their family. Her legacy of love continues through her cherished children, son Joshua Paulfray DeFeo and daughter Jennifer Amy Custeau. Her siblings, Susan Russo, along with her three daughters and grandchildren, and Jane Lareau and her husband, John Lareau, will forever hold her memory close, along with a multitude of loving cousins.
Throughout her life, Martha wore many hats, both professionally and personally. She took immense joy and pride in her roles with the Girl Scouts, Avon, and McDonald's, always with a smile that could brighten any room. As a former member of The Red Hat Ladies of Tamworth, NH, Martha enjoyed the camaraderie and joy that came with being part of such a spirited group.
Martha's interests were as vibrant as her personality. She found happiness in shopping excursions, treasured summers at The Camp, and the quiet solace of reading and writing. Her collection of dolls and trinkets was a reflection of her love for the whimsical and unique. Above all, Martha's greatest joy was the time spent with her family and friends, creating memories that will last a lifetime.
Despite facing significant health challenges throughout her life, Martha's strength was unparalleled. She remained resilient, never wavering in her faith, hope, and love for life. Her sweet personality and unique ability to connect with others made her a true angel on earth, loved by all who were fortunate enough to know her.
In honoring Martha's memory, the family kindly suggests donations be made to a charity of your choice, in lieu of flowers. They also wish to extend their deepest gratitude to the visiting nurses and the incredible staff at Mountain View Community for their exceptional care and compassion.
Martha-Anne Furbush DeFeo's legacy of love, strength, and kindness will continue to inspire those who knew her. While she is now reunited with many dear family and friends who predeceased her, her spirit lives on in the hearts of her family and all who were touched by her remarkable life.
