Martha Turner, a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away at home surrounded by loved ones on September 19, 2026. Born on September 12, 1944, in Coffeeville, Mississippi, Martha lived a life full of love, kindness, and faith.
Martha was the cherished daughter of the late Mrs. Jimmie Spearman. She was preceded in death by her dear mother, Mrs. Jimmie Spearman, and her siblings: James Turner, Fred Spearman, Jr; Lawrence Spearman, Leahman Spearman, MacArthur Spearman, and Maxine Gary. Her memory will continue to be honored by her surviving children, Arthur Spearman, Mary White, Michael Turner and his wife Sharon, and Dilisa Toles. She will be deeply missed by her siblings: Lucille Turner, Pearlie Long (Jessie), Caledonia Kincaide, Lutrecia Spearman, Hampton Spearman (Clottee), Leon Spearman (Robin), George Spearman (Joyce), and Jessie Spearma. Martha was also the proud grandmother of seven grandchildren: Anthony Stevenson, Travecus Coffey (Keyiona), Christopher Hankins (Jakayla), Kaydyn Carr-Turner, Makayla Toles, Makenzie Toles, and Joseph White and two great grandchildren, Kenslie Coffey and Kennedy Coffey. They filled her heart with warmth and love. Her cooking was legendary, and she delighted in preparing meals for family and friends; her kitchen was always a place of welcome and comfort. Martha was known for her immaculate home, a testament to the pride she took in creating a beautiful environment for those she loved.
Martha professed faith in her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. She joined the historic Belle Flower Missionary Baptist Church in Grenada, MS. Her faith was the cornerstone of her life, guiding her actions and providing solace and strength throughout her years.
Martha was a woman of remarkable character. Quick-witted, resolute, and unswerving, she never tired of mentoring and nurturing children. Her wisdom and guidance touched many lives, leaving an indelible mark on all who knew her.
Visitation will be Friday, September 25th at Clark Williams Funeral Home, Inc. in Grenada, MS from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. for the family and from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. for the public. Graveside services and will be held on Saturday, September 26th, at 11:00 a.m. at Bryant Cemetery in Coffeeville, MS. Family and friends are invited to gather and honor the memory of a truly remarkable woman. A private repast for family and friends will be held following the service at her beloved sister Lucille's home.
