May 12, 2008 — May 26, 2026

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved Marnez McDonald, who left this world far too soon on May 26, 2026, at the tender age of 18, after a courageous battle with cancer. Born on May 12, 2008, in Hartsville, South Carolina, Marnez brought light and laughter to all who knew him, leaving an indelible mark on our hearts. Marnez was a shining star in the McDonald family, known for his infectious laughter and a spirit that could light up any room. The son of the late Latabia McDonald, Marnez was a beacon of hope and joy to his family, including his late sister La’Jada McDonald, his uncle Rickey McDonald, and his grandmother Lucy McDonald Hawkins, who all preceded him in death. The love and guidance from his family shaped him into the compassionate young man we deeply cherish today. A senior in high school, Marnez was looking forward to what the future held. He had a passion for learning and was admired by both his peers and teachers. Marnez had a vibrant presence in the community, where he was the lead singer of the McDonald Singers, a group that brought joy to many with their harmonies and heartfelt performances. His commitment to his faith was evident in his dedicated service as a member of the usher board and a junior trustee at his church. Marnez had a zest for life that was evident in his love for singing, dancing, and making others laugh. He had an innate ability to bring people together, sharing his jokes and spreading his love with all those around him. His compassion for others was one of his most admired traits, and he never hesitated to lend a helping hand or a listening ear to anyone in need. A celebration of Marnez’s life will be held on May 30, 2026, at 10:30 AM at the Centerville AME Church, located at 2149 E Home Ave, Hartsville, SC 29550. We invite all those who knew and loved Marnez to join us in honoring his memory and celebrating the beautiful life he lived. The McDonald family wishes to extend their deepest gratitude to all the friends and community members who stood by Marnez’s side during his journey. Your unwavering support and love have been a source of strength and comfort, and we are forever thankful for each of you. Though he is no longer with us, Marnez’s spirit will forever live on in our hearts. His laughter, love, and light will continue to guide us, reminding us to cherish every moment and spread kindness wherever we go. Rest in peace, dear Marnez. You are loved beyond words and missed beyond measure.
