Born on March 23, 1972, in the vibrant city of Charlotte, North Carolina, Marlon was a beacon of warmth and kindness to all who had the privilege of knowing him. He was the cherished son of Susan and William Clyburn, who, along with his extended family, nurtured him in a home filled with love and encouragement.
Marlon was predeceased by his dear brother, Darrell Clyburn, and his beloved grandparents, Sarah and Edward Sloan, who surely welcomed him with open arms in the afterlife. He leaves behind a family who adored him, including his parents, Susan and William; his devoted sisters, Tonya Clyburn and Yolonda Brown, both of Charlotte, NC; and his brothers, Christopher Davis and Terrell Clyburn. His legacy of love continues through his children: daughters, Chelsea Clyburn and Larisha Jones (Cantrell), both of Charlotte, NC, and his son, Jalen Clyburn. Marlon was also the proud grandfather to eight beautiful grandchildren, who were the light of his life.
Marlon attended North Mecklenburg High School, where he built lifelong friendships and developed a love for learning. He embarked on a career as a welder, a profession he dedicated himself to for over 25 years. Marlon’s work ethic was unparalleled, and his skill was admired by colleagues and friends alike. His hands crafted not just metal, but also the bonds of friendship and respect in the work environment.
Outside of his profession, Marlon had a zest for life that was contagious. He found joy in the simple pleasures: the sizzle of a grill on a lazy afternoon, the camaraderie of friends and family gathered to watch Sunday football, and the freedom of riding his motorcycle through the open roads. Marlon’s laughter was infectious, and his presence brought comfort and joy to those around him. He was a man who cherished every moment with his family, creating memories that will be treasured forever.
Marlon’s life was a testament to the power of love, friendship, and family. His generous spirit and kind heart touched all who knew him, and his legacy will continue to inspire those he leaves behind. While our hearts are heavy with his passing, we find solace in the memories of the beautiful life he lived and the enduring love he shared.
A celebration of Marlon’s life will be held at a later date, where family and friends can gather to honor and remember this extraordinary man.
