Marlo Sylvia Jefferson, a cherished daughter, sister, aunt, and friend, passed away peacefully on July 16, 2026, at the age of 58. Born on March 17, 1968, in Detroit, Michigan, Marlo was the third eldest of five siblings to her late parents, Isaac and Georgia Jefferson. Raised by her maternal grandmother, Victoria Counts, Marlo was nurtured in a loving home where she was encouraged to explore her faith as a Jehovah's Witness. Marlo's life was a testament to her dedication, kindness, and a remarkable sense of humor. She was educated in the Detroit Public School system, attending Guyton Elementary School, Remus Robinson Middle School, and Martin Luther King High School. There, she developed a passion for journalism, contributing to the daily school announcements and compiling the Class of 1986 Year Book. Her commitment to education and community service was evident from a young age, as she received numerous awards for her academic achievements and contributions. Her professional journey began at the tender age of 11, delivering newspapers in her neighborhood, showcasing her strong work ethic. Marlo's career spanned several esteemed organizations, including the United States Postal Service, where she worked from 1996 until her retirement in 2026. She was recognized for her exceptional performance with Safety Awards, Perfect Attendance Certificates, and various accolades for her dedication and excellence. Her career also included roles as a typist for the City of Detroit, a clerk at First Federal of Michigan, and a technician at Wayne State University. Marlo's unwavering faith was central to her life. She dedicated herself to Jehovah on November 15, 1986, and was an active and devoted member of the Jehovah's Witnesses community. Her spiritual journey included conducting Bible studies and attending international conventions, where she formed deep bonds with fellow believers. Her adventurous spirit and love for travel led her to explore the world, from the Caribbean to Africa, and even New Zealand and Australia with her spiritual family. Marlo had a passion for the arts, enjoying concerts, Olympic figure skating, and gymnastics. She relished spending time with loved ones, hosting dinner parties, and delighting in a wide variety of cuisines. Marlo's quick wit, warm smile, and meticulous organization were legendary among her family and friends. She was known for her thoughtful nature, capturing memories through photographs and carefully preserving mementos from her life's journey. She leaves behind a loving family, including her siblings Terrence (Jacquisse), Marlesa, Nicole (James), and Joi (Juan); her nephews David, Demetrius, Davion, Demetrius Jr., and Cardi; her nieces Tennysha, Terreahna (DeAndre), Montreyl, A'Leghicee, Wynter, and Cardia; and her aunts and uncles Ernest (Deloris), Toby, Michael, Sheila, Celia, Sheena, and Linda. Marlo is also survived by her dearest spiritual friend, Audrey, and a multitude of other relatives and treasured friends. A private funeral service will be held on August 8, 2026, at 4:30 PM at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, located at 19008 N 34th Street. In lieu of flowers, donations in Marlo's memory can be made to Jehovah's Witnesses, an organization she held close to her heart. The family of Marlo Sylvia Jefferson extends their heartfelt gratitude to the Greenway Hills and Canyon Springs Congregations for their unwavering support and prayers during this difficult time. They find solace in the comforting words of Isaiah 25:8: "He will swallow up death forever. And Sovereign Lord Jehovah will wipe away the tears." Marlo's legacy of faith, love, and laughter will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to know her. She will be deeply missed but forever remembered.
