Marline O'Neal

March 2, 1958 — October 26, 2026

Marline O'Neal, a cherished wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully at University of Louisville Hospital after a long and courageous battle with lung cancer and other health concerns. Born on March 2, 1958, in Louisville, Marline was a beacon of light, known for her quick wit and bright smile that could light up any room. Marline was preceded in death by her loving parents, Lucinda and George Curtis, her beloved children Charline and Lewis O'Neal, her sister Annette O'Neal, brother Kenneth O'Neal, niece Shalonda O'Neal, and nephew Deshawn O'Neal. She is survived by her devoted husband of 27 years, David, who stood by her side through life's many joys and challenges. Together, Marline and David raised two wonderful children and built a life filled with love and happiness. A proud graduate of Seneca High School's class of 1976, Marline furthered her education with a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering. She was a long-time member of the Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, where she formed bonds of sisterhood and service that lasted a lifetime. Her professional journey took her to Swift, where she worked on the cutting room floor for two decades. Later, she found fulfillment at Bebe Daycare, where she cared for babies with the love and tenderness of a second mother. Marline was an active member of Little Flock Baptist Church for 35 years, where she served as an usher and choir director. Her faith was evident in her joyful participation in the church community. She was also an avid reader, finding solace and adventure in the pages of a good book each day. Her garden flourished under her care, filled with vibrant fruits and vegetables that she lovingly tended. Marline's life was a testament to the power of love, resilience, and community. Her hugs were powerful, and there was never a dull moment when she was around. Her legacy will live on in the hearts of those who knew her, especially her granddaughter Tyera O'Neal, whom she adored. A service to honor Marline's remarkable life will be held on October 27, 2026, at 1:30 PM at A.D. Porters and Son's Funeral Home, located at 1130 West Chestnut Street. The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the hospital staff for their compassionate care of Marline. In lieu of flowers, donations in Marline's memory can be made to the American Cancer Society. Marline O'Neal's indelible spirit and love will forever remain in the hearts of her family and friends. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who were fortunate enough to know her. The family would like to leave this message: "Forever in Our Hearts."
