It is with heavy hearts and profound sadness that we announce the passing of Marlene Ranzy Washington, a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. Marlene departed this world peacefully on July 29, 2026, at the age of 88. Born on January 5, 1938, in Cleveland, Ohio, Marlene was the cherished daughter of Sam and Bertha Meredith, who instilled in her the values of hard work, kindness, and integrity. Marlene's educational journey began at Cleveland Public School, where she gained a strong foundation that paved the way for her remarkable academic achievements. Her thirst for knowledge led her to Meyer College, where she earned a Master's degree in Business, a testament to her dedication and perseverance. Marlene devoted many years of her professional life to General Motors, where her commitment and exemplary skills left a lasting impact. Her colleagues admired her work ethic and the grace with which she handled every challenge. Marlene retired from her career having made significant contributions to the company and having formed lifelong friendships. Throughout her life, Marlene was known for her unwavering love for her family and her community. With a heart full of compassion, she was always willing to lend a helping hand or a listening ear. Her home was a haven of warmth, where laughter and love were shared freely. In addition to her parents, Sam and Bertha, Marlene was preceded in death by several dear family members who she loved deeply. She is survived by her children, grandchildren, and numerous friends who will forever cherish her memory and the beautiful legacy she leaves behind. A celebration of Marlene's life will be held on August 8, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. The service will be a time for family and friends to come together to honor and remember a life well-lived. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to a charity of your choice, in Marlene's memory. The family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude for the outpouring of love and support through calls, cards, and visits during this difficult time.
