Born on April 4, 1954, in Dallas, Texas, Marla was the cherished daughter of Merlene and Tracy Carter. Marla was predeceased by her loving parents, her brother Ronald Carter, and her sister Sharon Thornton. She found everlasting love with her late husband, Aerroll Mapps, with whom she shared a life filled with joy and devotion. Marla is survived by her five adoring children—daughters Michelle, Marjon, and Jemiah, and sons Tracy and Eric. She was the proud and loving grandmother to 10 grandchildren, and the great-grandmother of 20 great-grandchildren, each of whom brought her immense joy and fulfillment. Her family was her pride and joy, and Marla found her greatest happiness in spending quality time with her grandchildren. She had an unparalleled gift for creating warm and loving environments, where laughter and stories could be shared among the generations. Throughout her life, Marla was known for her compassionate spirit and her unwavering dedication to her family and friends. Her kindness and generosity knew no bounds, leaving an indelible mark on the hearts of all who knew her. Her infectious smile and gentle nature were a beacon of light and comfort to those around her.
