It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Mark Hughes, who departed this life on July 28, 2026. Mark was a beloved son, father, brother, and friend, whose vibrant spirit and dedication to his family and passions left an indelible mark on all who had the privilege of knowing him. Born on November 11, 1993, in Belize City, Belize, Mark was the cherished son of Jennifer and Ralph Hughes. From an early age, it was clear that Mark possessed both an inquisitive mind and a generous heart. These qualities led him to excel academically and personally, earning him a place at prestigious Columbia University, where he achieved a Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering in 2016 after graduating from Grandview High School in 2012. Mark's professional accomplishments, however, were only a part of his story. A devoted father, he always prioritized the happiness and growth of his beloved daughters, Anila and Amia. Whether it was attending their school activities or cheering them on in their endeavors, Mark’s love and pride for them shone brightly. Outside of his role as a father and engineer, Mark had a passion for baseball and was an ardent fan of the Royals, never missing an opening day. His enthusiasm for the game was infectious and mirrored his zest for life. Additionally, Mark cherished his time spent working on his first love, his car affectionately named "Thumper," a testament to his love of mechanics and the joy he found in hands-on projects. Mark is survived by his two precious daughters, Anila, aged 12, and Amia, aged 8, who will continue to carry his legacy of kindness and perseverance into the future. He is also survived by his loving parents, Jennifer and Ralph, and his siblings Kernique, Darius, Rashaad, Lorenzo, and Avausse Wesson. Each family member remains a testament to the bonds of love and unity that Mark so deeply cherished. In keeping with his family’s wishes, a private funeral ceremony will be held to honor Mark’s life and legacy. Friends and family are encouraged to remember Mark through acts of kindness and generosity, and may choose to make donations to a charity of their choice in his memory. Mark Hughes will be remembered not just for his professional achievements and passions, but for the warmth and compassion he extended to all. His memory will forever be cherished by his family, friends, and everyone whose lives he touched.
