It is with heavy hearts and profound admiration that we announce the passing of Mark Huard, who left this world far too soon on June 4, 2026, at the age of 68. Born on August 6, 1957, in New Haven, Mark's vibrant spirit and unwavering dedication to his family and community left an indelible mark on all who knew him. Mark was the cherished son of Rose and Stan Huard, who have predeceased him, as did his beloved sister Ellen. He is survived by his devoted wife, Suzie, who was his lifelong partner in love and adventure. Together, they built a family rooted in love and kindness, raising three wonderful children: Jennifer, Angela, and Mark, who continue to embody his values and spirit. Mark is also survived by his brother, Steve, who stood by his side through life's many journeys. A proud and loving grandfather, Mark's legacy shines brightly in the eyes of his six grandchildren, who were the apple of his eye. Though he did not live to see any great-grandchildren, his family tree continues to flourish, enriched by the love he sowed. His nieces — Rose, Jill, Emily, and Valerie — along with his nephew Michael, also mourn the loss of their dear uncle, remembering him for his warmth and generosity. Mark's life was defined by his unwavering commitment to service. After attending public schools and the police academy, he embarked on a distinguished career as a police officer, where he protected and served his community with courage and integrity. His dedication to justice and safety extended beyond his years on the force as he transitioned into a career as a private investigator, where he continued to assist those in need with tenacity and skill. Outside of his professional life, Mark was a man of diverse interests and talents. He had an insatiable curiosity and a love for travel, which took him on journeys far and wide, always returning with stories and experiences that enriched those around him. A music enthusiast, he took immense pride in his son's band, supporting their endeavors with the same dedication he showed in all aspects of his life. Mark also had a keen eye for antiques, often spending weekends exploring flea markets and antique shops, searching for treasures that connected him to the past. Mark was known and loved for his generous spirit and enduring commitment to helping others. Whether volunteering in community initiatives or offering a helping hand to neighbors, his kindness was a guiding light that touched many lives. He believed in the power of community and worked tirelessly to uplift those around him. In honor of Mark's life, his family will be holding a small gathering of immediate family and close friends to celebrate the man who gave so much of himself to others. While his passing leaves an irreplaceable void, his legacy of love, service, and kindness will forever be cherished and remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him. In this time of sorrow, let us come together to celebrate the life of Mark Huard—a man whose life was a testament to the power of love, family, and community. May his memory live on in our hearts, inspiring us to live with the same grace and generosity that he embodied every day.
