Mark Wesley Bocanegra Frausto, a beloved husband, father, son, and brother, passed away peacefully in his home on September 12, 2026, after a courageous four-year battle with cancer. Born on January 28, 1969, in Cheyenne, Wyoming, Mark was a beacon of strength and positivity whose memory will be cherished by all who knew him. Mark was the cherished son of Mary Lupe Greigo Housden and Wesley Ted Bocanegra, and he was blessed with the love and guidance of his stepfather Juan Frausto and his adopted parents, Karl and Jacque Cox. He was predeceased by his grandparents Rod and Eva Commander, Luis and Conferina Greigo, his Aunt Patsy Wilson, and several other aunts, uncles, and cousins. Mark shared his life with his devoted wife of ten years, DesiRae Frausto, who resides in Hermiston, Oregon. He was the loving father of two daughters, Alita Nicole Frausto of Fort Collins, Colorado, and Kiana Marie Frausto of Cheyenne, Wyoming, both born from his third marriage to Susan Grindle-Frausto. His legacy continues through his daughters and their families, including Alita's partner Brett LaJuenesse and Kiana's partner Ivan Diaz-Alvarez. He is survived by a large, loving family, including his mother Mary Lupe Housden, father Wesley (Diane) Bocanegra, stepfather Juan (Kathy) Frausto, adopted parents Karl and Jacque Cox, and siblings Natalie Lind, Tammy (Travis) Avery, Joshua Frausto, Louis (Carolyn) Frausto, Jacob Bocanegra, Tonya Zamora, Wendy Hall, Casey (Cinnamon) Johnson, Katelyn Johnson, and Tony Cox. Mark leaves behind many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews who will miss his infectious laughter and big, bright smile. Mark graduated from Rawlins High School in 1989 and immediately enlisted in the Navy with his brother Tony, serving onboard the U.S.S. Forrestal during Operation Desert Storm. After four years of dedication, he joined the Army National Guard in Douglas, Wyoming, serving with honor for 16 more years until his retirement in 2014. His service included deployments during Operation Iraqi Freedom, Operation Enduring Freedom, and security duties at Natrona County International Airport following 9/11. Mark took immense pride in honoring fellow veterans as part of the Military Honors Funeral Guards. Professionally, Mark was a skilled diesel mechanic, dedicating years to Peabody Energy at North and South Antelope Rochelle Coal Mines and Buckskin. His work ethic and commitment were admired by all his colleagues. Outside of his career, Mark was a passionate motorcycle enthusiast. He found joy in riding his Harley with DesiRae, cheering on the Denver Broncos, and reliving childhood memories through wrestling shows. He had a collector's heart, amassing an impressive assortment of Hot Wheels, lowrider models, Homies, and Iron Maiden memorabilia. Mark's generous spirit and mentorship shaped the lives of many. His laughter, guidance, and kindness will forever echo in the hearts of those he touched. A celebration of Mark's life will be held on October 22, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at the Kiwanis Community House, located at 4603 Lions Park Drive, Cheyenne, WY 82001 followed by Military Honor's at the Cheyenne National Cemetery located at 8611 Hildreth Rd at 1:00 p.m. with a reception and celebration lunch at the Kiwanis Community House following. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Mark's memory to his daughter's Alita and Kiana Frausto. Mark will forever be remembered and cherished in our hearts.
