June 21, 1971 — May 19, 2026

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Mark Alan Altermatt, a beloved husband, father, brother, and friend, who left this world unexpectedly at his home on May 19, 2026, at the age of 54. Born on June 21, 1971, in Lindsay, California, Mark's life was a testament to love, laughter, and the great outdoors. Mark was the cherished son of Roger and Brenda Altermatt. He spent his formative years in Strathmore, California, where he attended school and earned his GED. From a young age, Mark had a deep connection with nature, which led him to explore the majestic mountains and serene rivers of the valley—a passion that brought him immense joy and peace throughout his life. An avid fisherman, Mark found solace and adventure in the gentle ebb and flow of the rivers. He often shared this passion with his family and friends, imparting his love for the outdoors to those around him. His excursions into nature were more than just a hobby; they were a way of life that Mark embraced fully, always with a fishing rod in hand and a smile on his face. Mark is survived by a loving family who will continue to carry his legacy forward. He leaves behind his parents, Roger and Brenda, his brother Jeff, and a wife Silvia Rangel-Altermatt. He was the proud father of four daughters—Cala, Cameron, Mia, and Emma-each of whom carries a piece of his spirit and vigor for life. He also leaves behind several aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends who were touched by his warmth and humor. Mark was a man known for his warm heart and infectious sense of humor. He could light up a room with his presence, and his conversations were always engaging and entertaining. Those who knew him well will remember him as a great conversationalist, always ready with a joke or a story that left others in stitches or deep in thought. The family has chosen to honor Mark's life with a private ceremony, respecting his wishes and the intimate bonds he shared with those closest to him. In this time of great sorrow, Mark's family would like to express their deepest gratitude to all who have reached out with love and support. They share a special message: "Mark was loved by so many and will be greatly missed." His memory will forever be etched in the hearts of those who knew him and those who were touched by his kindness and zest for life. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests honoring Mark's memory through acts of kindness and love, reflecting the way he lived his life. Mark Alan Altermatt will be dearly missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew him.
