May 24, 1957 — October 6, 2026

Mark "Hitts" West, a beloved son, brother, uncle, and friend, peacefully departed this world on October 6, 2026, surrounded by love and the cherished memories of a life well-lived. Born on May 24, 1957, in Columbus, Ohio, Mark was the son of Jack and Janet West, who along with his brother, Thomas R. West and nephew Shawn West predeceased him. Mark graduated from Brookhaven High School in 1975, where he earned the endearing nickname “Hitts” due to his impressive skills on the baseball field. His talent and passion for the game left an indelible mark on those who knew him. Mark found his professional calling at Heritage Marble Company, where he dedicated many years to the production, installation, and supervision of cultured marble products. His commitment and hard work were evident to all who crossed his path. Unfortunately, due to the onset of multiple sclerosis, Mark took an early retirement, yet he faced this challenge with remarkable resilience and grace. An avid Buckeye fan, Mark's love for sports was only rivaled by his love of the outdoors. He found joy and solace in the sun and his swimming pool, particularly as his MS progressed. Swimming remained a vital part of his life, offering him both physical relief and emotional pleasure. Mark cherished spending time with his family and friends, whether it was enjoying a movie or engaging in passionate discussions about history and current world events. His quick wit and sarcastic humor brought smiles and laughter to those around him, and he had the rare gift of turning strangers into friends. Mark will be incredibly missed by his surviving family members: his sister Teri (Gary) Asher, his nephew Brandon (Megan) Kleinenkiser, his nieces Sarah West, Eileen (Lauren) Asher-Jones and Kathy (Ryan) Asher-Bishop, and his great-nieces Aurora and Nova Kleinenkiser. His lifelong friendships with DL and Vicki Dawson, Mark Huffman, and his special friend Debra, further expanded his circle of love and support. In honoring Mark's wishes, no visitation or service will be held. A celebration of life will be held at a later date. family requests that donations be made to a charity dedicated to multiple sclerosis research or to a hospice care organization of your choice, reflecting the causes that were meaningful to him. Mark's legacy is one of warmth, humor, and a profound love for life. Though he will be deeply missed, his spirit will continue to inspire those who had the privilege of knowing him.
