July 22, 1934 — April 18, 2026

Marjorie Obermeier, a cherished daughter, devoted wife, loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully on April 18, 2026, at the age of 91. Born on July 22, 1934, in Burlington, Kansas, Marjorie was the beloved daughter of Carry and Goldie Macoubrie. Her life was a testament to love, resilience, and dedication, leaving a lasting legacy for her family and all who knew her. Marjorie's early years were marked by her academic excellence. Graduating as the valedictorian of Parker High School in 1952, she set the stage for a life filled with learning and intellectual curiosity. She furthered her education with business courses at Avila College, equipping herself with the skills that would later define her professional journey. Her career was a blend of commitment and excellence. Marjorie dedicated 20 years to Veterinary Biologicals, where her work ethic and passion left an indelible mark. She continued her professional path at Abbott Laboratories, eventually retiring from Locke Equipment. Throughout her career, Marjorie was known for her integrity, diligence, and the warmth she brought to every workplace. In her personal life, Marjorie was a beacon of love and kindness. She married Leslie Richardson in 1952 and that union produced two children, David and Susan. The marriage ended in 1981. She married Arthur Obermeier on May 8, 1986. Though Arthur preceded her in death, their union was a testament to enduring love and mutual support. She also was very close to her sister Dorothy who also preceded her in death. Marjorie's family was her greatest pride and joy. She is survived by her son, David Richardson and his wife, Sue; her four grandchildren, Robert (Christie) Richardson, Michael (Lauren) Richardson, Whitney (Ben) Davis, and Scott (Courtney) Richardson; and her seven great-grandchildren, Garrett, Sophie, Logan, and Audrey Richardson, and Beckham, Bronx, and Lyrik Davis. Each of them carries forward the love and lessons she imparted. A woman of many talents, Marjorie found joy in crochet, sewing, and square dancing, activities that brought her immense pleasure and allowed her to share her creative spirit with loved ones. Her deep love for animals was another hallmark of her life, and she could often be found caring for her beloved pets with the same devotion she showed her family. Marjorie was also a dedicated member of the Stoney Point Christian Church in Kansas City, Kansas, where her faith and community service were constants throughout her life. She found solace and purpose in her faith, and her church was a place where she not only worshipped but also spread her warmth and generosity. Preceded in death by her parents, Carry and Goldie Macoubrie; her husband, Arthur Obermeier; her sister, Dorothy Barrett; and her daughter, Susan Flanner, Marjorie's legacy continues through those she leaves behind. Her family and friends will remember her as a pillar of strength, a source of unwavering love, and a woman whose presence enriched every life she touched. As we celebrate Marjorie's remarkable life, we remember her not just for her accomplishments, but for her kindness, her laughter, and her boundless love. Her memory will be cherished, and her spirit will live on in the hearts of all who loved her. May she rest in peace, knowing she was deeply loved and will be profoundly missed.
