With heavy hearts, we announce the peaceful passing of Marjorie Annis Brown, affectionately known as "Annie," who departed this life on September 14, 2025, at the age of 85. Annie passed away in her sleep at the Beaver City Manor, nestled in the comforting embrace of her beloved hometown of Beaver City, Nebraska.
Born on May 12, 1940, in Holdrege, Nebraska, Annie was the cherished daughter of Roy Brown and Ester Cass Brown. She was predeceased by her devoted parents, leaving behind a legacy of love and resilience that she embodied throughout her life. Annie's memory will forever be treasured by her surviving cousins, a wide circle of devoted friends, and all those who had the privilege of knowing her.
Annie's journey began in Beaver City, where she graduated with the Class of 1958 from Beaver City High School. Her pursuit of knowledge continued at the University of Nebraska at Lincoln, where she accumulated 35 credits, a testament to her lifelong love of learning. She dedicated 30 years of her professional life as an administrative assistant, with the most significant chapter of her career spent at Unisys Sperry Corporation. Her meticulous nature and dedication to her work left an indelible mark on all who had the pleasure of working alongside her.
In addition to her career, Annie served as a part-time editor for the Times Tribune in Beaver City, Nebraska, for many years. Her keen eye for detail and passion for the written word enriched the publication and connected her deeply to her community.
Annie's life was a tapestry woven with vibrant threads of hobbies and interests. She had an unwavering affection for her feline companions and, over time, became a collector of cat figurines and memorabilia, each piece a treasured gift from friends and family. Her adventurous spirit was nourished by a love of traveling and camping, with each journey adding a new chapter to her story. Annie's admiration for Elvis was well-known, and his music provided a soundtrack to many of her cherished memories.
A pillar of strength, Annie navigated life's challenges with humor and perseverance. Her independent spirit and warm heart were a beacon of inspiration to those around her. Annie's closest confidantes, Betty Stratton and Con, were more than friends—they were family, sharing in her laughter, adventures, and life’s beautiful moments.
As we reflect on Annie's remarkable life, we celebrate the indelible impact she has left on all who knew her. Her legacy is one of kindness, resilience, and a life well-lived. While our hearts are heavy with her loss, we find solace in the memories and love she shared with us all.
A memorial service to honor Annie's life and legacy will be held on a date to be announced, where friends and family will gather to celebrate the remarkable woman she was. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Annie's memory to a local animal shelter, reflecting her enduring love for her feline friends.
