It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Mario Michael Mancusi, who left this world on April 3, 2026, in the comforting embrace of his home at Rowntree Gardens, with Pastor Robert by his side. Born on February 11, 1930, in Brooklyn, New York, Mario's life was a testament to his unwavering love for God, his family, and his community.
Mario was the beloved son of Vito Donato Mancusi and Josephine Cuppolla Mancusi. He was predeceased by his cherished sister, Angelina Parisi, and brothers, Vincent, Carmen, and Dominick. He was also preceded in death by his beloved wives, Lois A. Mancusi and Carol Quinn Mancusi, whose memories he treasured deeply.
A man of great intellect and dedication, Mario pursued his education with fervor, earning a Bachelor of Science from Brooklyn College, a Master of Science from the University of Pennsylvania, and completing post-master's studies at New York University. His thirst for knowledge was rivaled only by his passion for imparting it to others.
Mario served with honor in the United States Air Force for two years, a testament to his love for country and commitment to service. His professional journey was equally distinguished, as he spent 25 years as a Drivers Education teacher and Sports Trainer at East Meadow School District. He also shared his expertise as an instructor and associate professor at Ithaca College, Nassau Community College, and NYU. As a Physical Therapist at Palomar Hospital in Escondido for 18 years, Mario touched countless lives with his healing hands and compassionate heart.
A man of many talents and interests, Mario was a proud member of the Boy Scouts of America - Aviation Explorer Post, and he dedicated his time to the Brentwood Fire & Rescue as an EMT, the Vista Sheriff's Office Senior Patrol as a volunteer, and the Coast Guard Auxiliary in Oceanside. His adventurous spirit was evident in his hobbies, which included private piloting single-engine planes, seaplanes, and gliders, as well as sailing, scuba diving, and remote control flying.
Mario's love for the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ was the cornerstone of his life. He embraced every day with a warm heart and a gracious soul, truly embodying the virtues of kindness and generosity. His greatest gift was his ability to teach and inspire others, leaving a lasting legacy of knowledge and love.
He is survived by his loving son, Michael D. Mancusi of Huntington Beach, California, and his devoted daughter, Linda A. Page, also of Huntington Beach, California. Mario's legacy continues through his treasured grandchildren, Christopher M. Kindberg of Lake Havasu, Arizona, and Caitlin A. Dilley of Hermitage, Tennessee.
A service to celebrate Mario's extraordinary life will be held at Rowntree Gardens Chapel, located at 12151 Dale Street, Stanton, California, 90680. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to Rowntree Gardens Senior Living, reflecting Mario's dedication to his community.
As we say goodbye to Mario, we echo the family's heartfelt message: "Praise be to God, Thanks be to God, Glory be to God!" His life was a blessing, and his memory will forever be a treasure to all who knew and loved him. May he rest in eternal peace.
