August 30, 1947 — April 4, 2026
In loving memory, we celebrate the remarkable life of Marilynn Ellis, who passed away peacefully on April 4, 2026, at the age of 78. Born on August 30, 1947, Marilynn was a beacon of love, warmth, and dedication, whose legacy will forever touch the hearts of those who knew her.
Marilynn was the cherished daughter of her beloved parents, who preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her sister, Alexandria Kokorich, and her dear parent-in-laws, Dorothy and Jasper Ellis. She leaves behind her devoted husband of 58 years, Jim Ellis, with whom she shared a lifetime of love and companionship since their wedding on April 3, 1968. Together, they built a family that was the center of Marilynn’s world.
Marilynn was the proud and loving mother of two sons, Beau (and Jennifer) Ellis and Jimmy (and Mindy) Ellis. Her nurturing spirit extended to her grandchildren, Abby (and Justin) Kachelmyer and Kylee Ellis, whom she adored and inspired with her creativity and passion. Her legacy continues through her great-grandchildren, Riley, Kinsely, and Elijah Ellis, who brought her immense joy and pride.
A dedicated scholar, Marilynn graduated high school in 1965 and pursued higher education with vigor. She earned a Bachelor of Arts in Business from Southern Nazarene University in 1992 and later a Masters in Human Resources from the University of Phoenix in 2001. Her commitment to learning was matched by her service to her country, as she served in the United States Air Force from 1967 to 1969, achieving the rank of Sergeant.
Marilynn applied her talents and tenacity in her 26-year career with Citgo as a Lubricants Regional Pricing Manager, a role she held until her retirement in 2005. Her career was marked by excellence and dedication. Following retirement, Marilynn continued to touch lives as a substitute teacher for Broken Arrow and Tulsa Public Schools and later by teaching GED courses through Union and TANF.
Her spiritual life was deeply rooted in her faith, and she was a longtime and active member of both Sequoyah Hills Baptist Church and Eastwood Baptist Church. At Sequoyah Hills, she was an integral part of the children's ministry, passionately involved in Bible Drill, Vacation Bible School, and various children’s ministry classes. Her faith was her guiding light, and she lived it daily, welcoming everyone with open arms and a loving heart.
Marilynn’s love for arts and crafts was a vibrant part of her life. Whether painting ceramics with her sons or crocheting baby blankets for every newborn she knew, her creativity was boundless. She cherished the opportunity to share these crafting adventures with her granddaughters Abby and Kylee, creating memories that will be treasured forever.
To know Marilynn was to be enveloped in her warmth and kindness. She possessed the unique gift of making everyone feel welcome and part of her extended family. Her fierce love for her family and her unwavering faith left an indelible mark on all who were privileged to know her.
A service to honor and celebrate the life of Marilynn Ellis will be held on April 23, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at Eastwood Baptist Church, located at 948 South 91st East Avenue, Tulsa, OK. Friends and family are invited to gather and share in the memory of a truly extraordinary woman.
