It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Marilyn Schurr Blanchard on July 21, 2026 at the age of 85. Marilyn was born on March 20, 1941, in the vibrant city of New Orleans, Louisiana. Marilyn was preceded in death by her loving parents, Woodrow and Merlyn Schurr, her devoted husband, Frank Blanchard, her cherished brother Woody Schurr, and her dear son-in-law Barry Swanson. Marilyn's life was a testament to strength, tenacity, and unwavering love for her family. She is survived by her beloved children, Bryan Stinson, Wendy Swanson, Robin Jordan (Garrett) and stepson Francis Blanchard (Maria) and her siblings Ronnie Schurr, Glenn Schurr and Sharon Cousins. Marilyn was a proud grandmother to 8 grandchildren and a great-grandmother to 11 great grandchildren, each of whom filled her life with joy and laughter. A woman of remarkable determination, Marilyn forged a successful career in sales, ultimately establishing her own business as a Hearing Aid Specialist. Her work was more than a profession; it was a calling to improve the lives of others through compassionate service and expert care. Marilyn found immense joy in the simple pleasures of life. An avid gardener, she cultivated beauty and tranquility in her surroundings, finding peace in the earth’s embrace, and she cherished every moment spent in the company of family and friends during their frequent gatherings. Marilyn shared a special bond with her beloved dog Phoebe, who passed before her. Her nurturing spirit extended to all creatures, and she found great comfort in caring for those she loved. Known for her unwavering strength and resilience, Marilyn faced life’s challenges with grace and determination. In honoring Marilyn's life, the family suggests that memorial contributions be made to a charity close to her heart or a cause that continues her legacy of caring for others. A Celebration Of Life service will be held at L.A. Muhleisen & Son Funeral Home in Kenner on August 4, 2026 from 2:00 PM to 3:30 PM to honor Marilyn’s life and legacy. Her family extends their heartfelt gratitude for the love and support they have received during this difficult time. Marilyn’s memory will forever be cherished in the hearts of those she touched. May she rest in peace.
