Marilyn Jean Blackburn

Marilyn Jean Blackburn, a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, peacefully passed away on August 15, 2026, surrounded by her loving family. Born on March 30, 1948, in Olympia, Washington, Marilyn was the cherished daughter of Donald Leroy Hunter and Doris Lorraine Alderson. Marilyn's journey began in Eureka, California, where she graduated from Eureka High School in 1966. Her life was filled with love, resilience, and dedication. As a single mother, she worked tirelessly in various jobs to support her daughter, Angela Marie, before finding a rewarding career with Trinity County Health and Human Services in Weaverville, CA, where she eventually retired. Marilyn was married to James Allen, with whom she welcomed her treasured daughter, Angela. In 1975, she found love again with Norman Blackburn, sharing many happy years together until his passing. Marilyn was predeceased by her parents, Donald and Doris Hunter, and her beloved husband, Norman Blackburn. Her family was her greatest joy, and she leaves behind a legacy of love through her daughter Angela Harder and her husband Keven, as well as her step-children Teresa Peters and her husband John, and Richard Blackburn and his wife Wendy. Marilyn was a devoted grandmother to Tanner and Hunter Circe, Brandon and Greysen Blackburn, and Julia and Matthew Peters. She was also blessed with six great-grandchildren, who will carry forward her spirit and love. Marilyn is survived by her dear sisters, Phyllis Parke and Suzy Mott, who shared in her life's journey with unwavering support and love. Marilyn was an active member of the First Covenant Church in Eureka and the Church of the Nazarene in Weaverville, CA, where her faith and compassion touched many lives. Known for her warm heart and storytelling skills, Marilyn cherished every moment spent with her grandchildren, especially during their cherished visits on the front porch swings. Her stories and laughter will be dearly missed by all who knew her. The family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Timber Ridge for providing a nurturing environment for Marilyn and to the Hospice House of Humboldt for their compassionate care in her final days. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Marilyn's memory to Hospice Of Humboldt in Eureka, CA, to honor the exceptional care she received. Marilyn Jean Blackburn's life was a testament to love, resilience, and kindness. Her spirit will forever remain in the hearts of all who were fortunate to know her.
