In Loving Memory

Marilyn Hutchens
May 21, 1946 — October 7, 2026
Marilyn Hutchens, a beloved matriarch, passed away peacefully at home on October 7, 2026, at the age of 80. Born on May 21, 1946, in Indianapolis, Indiana, Marilyn was a cherished daughter of Kenneth and Leah Loux. Her life's story is a testament to resilience, love, and the joy she spread to those fortunate enough to have known her.
Marilyn graduated from Arsenal Technical High School in 1964, marking the beginning of a path that would see her impact many lives. Her career was dedicated to the Indiana State Board of Animal Health, where she worked joyfully in the Swine division for over two decades. Her colleagues remember her as a dedicated worker whose laughter and warmth enriched their daily lives.
A woman of simple pleasures, Marilyn had a passion for thifting, a skill she lovingly passed down to her grandchildren, teaching them the art of negotiation. She loved her grandchildren and great grandchildren immensely and loved to spoil them with candy, always found in her purse.
Marilyn was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Danny, her sister Linda, and her daughter-in-law Becky. She leaves behind a legacy of unconditional love and dedication to her family: her children, Casey and Stacy; her grandchildren Shannon(Ian), Heather, James(Rachel), Cassandra(Troy), and Kasey(Elizabeth); her great-grandchildren Savannah, Madison, Caleb, Grant, Hannah, Elijah, Benjamin, and Hallie; and her great-great granddaughter, Jimena. Her twin sister Martha and sisters Donna and Carol, along with several nieces and nephews, also mourn her passing.
Her family remembers her as a fighter, blessed with a touch of sass, especially when denied her favorite sweets. She was always ready to step in when needed, making life's burdens lighter for those she loved. She always filled a room with giggles. She wore a smile that was often followed by a giddy laughter just because she was so happy to be in the company of those she loved.
Despite life's challenges, Marilyn's kindness and love were unwavering, reflecting the strength and compassion that defined her character.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to St. Francis Hospice for their compassionate care and support during Marilyn's final days.
Marilyn Hutchens will be remembered for her giggling, her nurturing spirit, and the love she showered upon her family and friends. Her legacy will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
In lieu of flowers, the family invites those wishing to honor Marilyn’s memory to make a donation to a cause close to their hearts or simply share a cherished memory of her. Marilyn had a generous spirit and was always willing to give what she could to help those in need. One of the most meaningful ways to honor her legacy is to carry that same kindness forward by giving back to others.
Rather than holding a traditional funeral service, the family looks forward to gathering at a later date to celebrate Marilyn’s life, share stories, and remember the love, laughter, and joy she brought to those around her.
