Marilyn Gale

Marilyn Gale, a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully August 7, 2026 at Edgewood Senior Living in Onward, Indiana. She was born on July 6, 1927, in Logansport, Indiana, to Delbert and Bertha Baker. Marilyn was a woman of great warmth and wisdom, leaving an indelible mark on all who knew her. Marilyn married the love of her life, John Gale, on December 29, 1946. Together, they built a life filled with love, laughter, and adventure. They were blessed with three children: Maureen, Edsel Prouty, and Rex Rose Gale, and four grandchildren: Timothy Clare Gale, Alisa Gale, Mitchell Gale, and Kevin Maricol Gale. Marilyn cherished her family above all, and her legacy of love and kindness lives on in them. Marilyn was predeceased by her parents, Delbert and Bertha Baker, her husband John Gale, her son Robert Gale, her sisters Mary Burdge and Martha Hosier, and her brother Herbert. She is survived by her sister, Maxine Gale, who shared many cherished memories with her throughout their lives. Her career began at RBM and the Logansport State Hospital, but it was in retirement that Marilyn truly embraced life's adventures. She and John spent their golden years in Fifty Lakes, Minnesota, enjoying the tranquility and bounty of nature until they humorously declared they had caught all the fish they could eat. They later returned to Logansport, where they continued their active involvement with the Wheatland Avenue Methodist Church, Elks, Eagles, and VFW. Marilyn was a woman of many talents and interests. She was an enthusiastic fisherwoman, gardener, and needleworker. True to her maiden name, Baker, she was known for her delicious baked goods. She found joy in the simple pleasures of life, from watching Perry Mason and Wheel of Fortune to savoring a cup of Folgers coffee. Her frugality, a product of having lived through the Great Depression, was legendary, and she often joked about buying a carton of cigarettes if she knew the world was ending. Marilyn's family extends a heartfelt thank you to Jamie and all her family for their unwavering love and support, and to the Hospice staff who provided care and comfort. Marilyn's final resting place is as peaceful and cared for as she was in life. In honor of Marilyn's memory, the family requests that donations be made to a charity of your choice. A private funeral service will be held to celebrate her life and legacy. Marilyn Gale's life was a testament to love, resilience, and the joy found in everyday moments. She will be dearly missed and forever remembered.
