Marilyn Dudash Anastasio

May 4, 1946 — July 2, 2026

It is with profound sorrow and deep love that we announce the passing of Marilyn Dudash Anastasio, a cherished wife, beloved mother, devoted grandmother, and treasured friend. Marilyn departed this life peacefully on July 2, 2026, at the age of 80, surrounded by the love of her family. She was born on May 4, 1946, in Perth Amboy, New Jersey, to the late Thomas Stephen Dudash and Helen Margaret Mrav Dudash. Marilyn was a proud graduate of Perth Amboy High School, class of 1964, and went on to pursue her passion for education at Trenton State College, now known as The College of New Jersey. There, she earned both a Bachelor of Arts and a Master’s degree, which she used to inspire and educate countless young minds as an elementary school teacher. Her teaching career took her to the far reaches of Sitka, Alaska, and back to the communities of Madison Township (Old Bridge) and South River, where her dedication and warmth left an indelible mark on her students. On February 27, 1982, Marilyn married the love of her life, Thomas A. Anastasio. Together, they created a beautiful family, sharing a life filled with love, laughter, and adventure. Marilyn's legacy is carried on by her devoted husband, Thomas, and their beloved children: Gina Marie Anastasio and her wife, Diana Luts Anastasio; Cari Ann Anastasio; and Thomas Stephen Anastasio and his wife, Emily Smith Anastasio. Marilyn was a proud and doting grandmother to Donato Thomas Moronta, Isabella Melina Anastasio, and Thomas Miles Anastasio, each of whom brought immense joy and pride into her life. Marilyn had a passion for photography and a keen interest in ancestry, pursuits that reflected her deep appreciation for history and family. She was an active member of the Proprietary House in Perth Amboy and the South River Museum, where she dedicated her time and talents to preserving local history and culture. Marilyn was predeceased by her loving parents and her dear brother, Carl Stephen Dudash. She is survived by a close-knit circle of cousins, including Elaine Dudash Carroll, Patricia Faust Whatton, Mark Faust, Dennis Malopolski, David Westlake, and Peter Faust, all of whom cherish the memories they shared with her. Throughout her life, Marilyn was known for her kindness, wisdom, and unwavering dedication to her family and community. Her gentle spirit and compassionate heart touched everyone she met, leaving a legacy of love and inspiration. Marilyn's family will receive friends and family at a memorial service to be held in her honor, where they will celebrate her life and the joy she brought into the world. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Proprietary House in Perth Amboy, an institution dear to Marilyn's heart. As we bid farewell to Marilyn, we hold her memory close, knowing that her spirit will continue to guide and uplift us. She will be deeply missed but forever remembered with love and gratitude.
