It is with heavy hearts and cherished memories that we announce the passing of Marietta Schott, who departed this world peacefully at her home on May 27, 2026. Born on January 10, 1948, in Linden, New Jersey, Marietta lived a life filled with love, laughter, and the unwavering warmth she shared with all who were fortunate enough to know her.
Marietta was the beloved daughter of Claude and Anne, with whom she is now reunited in eternal peace. A proud graduate of Linden High School's class of 1966, Marietta carried the values of hard work and dedication learned in her youth into her professional life. She began her career at NJ Bell, where she honed her skills and formed lasting friendships. Later, she devoted her talents to serving the community at the Township of Clark, where she left an indelible mark of kindness and professionalism.
Marietta was a woman of many passions, but none greater than her love for cooking, which she generously shared with family and friends. Her kitchen was a place where not only meals were crafted, but also where bonds were strengthened, and love was expressed with every dish served. Her meals were a testament to her nurturing spirit and her belief in the power of bringing people together.
Above all, Marietta was a devoted mother to her two sons, Tom and Brian Schott. She took immense pride in being their mom, and her guidance and love shaped them into the remarkable men they are today. Marietta's legacy lives on in her sons, their wives Lauren and Jessica, and her adored grandchildren Brianna, Thomas, and Jonathan, who will forever carry forward her spirit of generosity and kindness.
Marietta possessed a rare gift for giving sound advice, often becoming the pillar of strength for those in need. Her heart was as vast as her wisdom, and her ability to make people smile was a testament to her joyous and loving nature. She approached life with a whole heart, embracing each moment and touching the lives of many with her gentle kindness.
A service to celebrate Marietta's life will be held on June 9, 2026, at 1:00 PM at O’Brien Funeral Home, located at 2028 NJ-35, Wall, NJ 07719. Family and friends are invited to gather in remembrance of a life well-lived and a soul who gave so much to the world.
In lieu of flowers, Marietta's family kindly requests that donations be made to the ASPCA of Ocean or Union County, reflecting her love and compassion for animals. The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the compassionate staff at Patient Care hospice, who provided unwavering support and care during Marietta's final days.
Marietta Schott will be dearly missed but fondly remembered by all who knew her. Her legacy of love, wisdom, and joy will live on through her family and the countless lives she touched. May she rest in eternal peace.
