Marienne Hagen

September 14, 1945 — April 10, 2026

Marienne Hagen, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and cherished friend, passed away peacefully on April 10, 2026, surrounded by her loving family. Born on September 14, 1945, in Stolp, Pommern, Germany, Marienne was the daughter of Eugen and Zoe (Sedlik) Kuzminski. She was 80 years old. Marienne's early years were spent in Germany, where she received her education in cities such as Berlin, Frankfurt am Main, Oberammergau, and Garmisch-Partenkirchen. It was during a chance meeting that Marienne met Dennis Hagen, who was serving in the United States Military and stationed in Germany. Their love story quickly blossomed, and they returned to the United States, marrying on May 10, 1964, in Ceylon, Minnesota—a union that would last a lifetime. Together, Marienne and Dennis built a loving and vibrant family, raising four children: Jeffrey (Karis) Hagen, Timothy (Rachel) Hagen, Angela (Travis) Leiden, and Larissa Hagen. Her legacy continues through her 10 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren, who brought immense joy and pride to her life. Marienne was predeceased by her parents, Eugen and Zoe Kuzminski, and her in-laws, Herbert and Arline Hagen. In her passing, she leaves behind her devoted husband, Dennis, and her loving family who will forever cherish her memory. Throughout her life, Marienne was a woman of remarkable resilience and dedication. She embraced every task with enthusiasm, whether it was working on the farm or managing the household as a "domestic engineer." Her professional journey included roles at the Hwy 4 Store in Dunnell, Pizza Hut in Fairmont, Edmans Law Office, Aerospace in Fairmont and Blue Earth, and Enderson’s Clothing in Fairmont, until her retirement in 2012. Faith was a cornerstone of Marienne's life. An active member of St. Peter Lutheran Church in Ceylon, she served as a Sunday School teacher, Superintendent, and held various leadership roles on boards such as the Watonwan River Synod Board, Global Mission Board, and Church and Society Board. Upon moving to Fairmont, she continued her spiritual journey at St. Paul Lutheran Church, where she was involved in numerous church activities and community service, including the Charity Club, Anna Circle, and the Citizens Advisory Board at Human Services. Marienne's interests were as diverse as they were enriching. She found solace and joy in reading, painting, needlework, and ceramics. An adventurer at heart, she delighted in outdoor pursuits such as hiking, skiing, and golfing. Her competitive spirit shone through in bowling, and she cherished exploring museums, zoos, and antiquing with Dennis. A service to celebrate Marienne’s life will be held on April 19, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Paul Lutheran Church, located at 211 Budd St, Fairmont, MN 56031. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to the Lutz Cancer Center in Fairmont, MN, and the UHD Hospice Program, two causes close to Marienne's heart. Marienne Hagen leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness, and unwavering faith. Her life was a testament to the power of compassion and dedication, and she will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her spirit continues to inspire, guiding those she loved with the warmth and grace she embodied throughout her life.
