Her legacy is carried on by her devoted husband, Stephen Huftel, whom she married on December 17, 1988, and their loving children, Katie Willis and Stephen J Huftel, son in law Jacob Willis along with her precious grandchild, Rowyn Willis. A graduate of Fairfield University, Marie earned her bachelor's degree in Journalism, setting the stage for a life marked by achievement and passion. Her career in the fashion industry was a testament to her determination and talent, as she rose from the floors of department stores to become the operations manager of a major clothing company. Her colleagues admired her razor-sharp mind and quick wit, traits that she shared generously with everyone around her. Marie had an extraordinary gift for making others feel cherished, a quality that shone brightly during her favorite time of year—the holidays. She was renowned for her extravagant holiday meals and her delectable Christmas cookies, which were a much-anticipated treat for family and friends alike. Her love of cooking was matched only by her lifelong passion for crocheting, through which she created beautiful blankets that warmed the hearts and homes of those she loved. A private funeral ceremony will be held in her honor, as per the family's wishes. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in memory of Marie.
