Marie M. Alcure

December 8, 1942 — April 12, 2026

With profound sadness, we announce the passing of our beloved matriarch, Marie M. Alcure, who left this world peacefully on April 12, 2026, following a stroke while visiting her brother in Arizona. Born on December 8, 1942, in Richmond Hill, NY, Marie was a beacon of warmth and kindness whose presence enriched the lives of everyone she encountered. Marie was the cherished daughter of the late Joseph and Josephine Marino and the loving sister of the late Tony and Joe. Her steadfast devotion to family began with her marriage to George Alcure in 1965, celebrated at St. Aidan Catholic Church in Williston Park, NY. Together, they built a beautiful life filled with love, joy, and laughter, raising three devoted children—Dina, Peter, and Christopher—until George's untimely passing in 1994. Marie’s professional journey in copywriting at Gertz Department Store was marked by creativity and dedication until she chose to embrace the role she cherished most: motherhood. Her commitment to her family extended beyond her home, as she actively participated in her children’s education by volunteering through the PTA and various school committees. A devout member of St. Paul’s Catholic Church in Brookville and later St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Glen Cove, Marie’s faith was a cornerstone of her life. She was known affectionately as "The Source" within her community, a testament to the wisdom and comfort she offered to friends and family alike. Marie’s home was always open to visitors, who were greeted with her signature smile, a warm hug, and likely a bowl of soup or a plate of freshly baked cookies. Marie’s passions were many, from spirited tennis matches and leisurely lunches with her Tennis ladies to serene swims and leisurely shopping trips. Her greatest joy, however, was found in the company of her six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren, who filled her heart with pride and delight. Marie’s legacy of love and kindness lives on through her surviving children, Dina, Peter, and Christopher, her brothers John and Fred, her six grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. She will be dearly missed but fondly remembered by all who were fortunate to know her. A service to celebrate Marie’s life will be held on May 18, 2026, at 10:00 AM at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, located at 235 Glen St, Glen Cove, NY 11542. In honoring Marie’s memory, the family extends heartfelt gratitude to all who have reached out with comforting words and shared cherished memories of Marie, Mom, and Grandmarie. Your love and support during this difficult time are deeply appreciated. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Marie’s memory to a charity of your choice, continuing her legacy of generosity and compassion.
