Marie D. Pritchett, a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on April 28, 2026, at the age of 87. Born in Danville, Virginia, on February 1, 1939, she was the cherished daughter of the late Frank Dodson and Grace Melva Setliff. Marie's life was a testament to love, strength, and resilience, leaving behind a legacy that will be cherished by all who knew her.
On January 31, 1958, Marie married the love of her life, James L. Pritchett Jr. Together, they built a beautiful life, nurturing a family with deep roots of love and support. Although James preceded her in death, along with their son, James L. Pritchett III, the memories they created together remain a source of comfort and joy for their surviving family.
Marie leaves behind her devoted daughters, Cynthia Williams and Virginia Goodman, who continue to embody the values and warmth she instilled in them. Her spirit lives on in her grandsons, Patrick Carroll, Christopher Carroll, Kyle Carroll, Andrew Goodman, and Michael Goodman, as well as her five great-grandchildren, each of whom brought immense joy to her life.
A dedicated member of the Disney-Bell American Legion Auxiliary Unit 66, Marie found purpose and camaraderie in serving her community, making lasting friendships along the way. Her passions included reading, crocheting, and creating delectable desserts, which she often shared with family and friends, turning ordinary moments into cherished memories.
Marie touched the lives of many with her kindness and generosity, always ready with a welcoming smile and a comforting word. Her legacy is one of warmth, compassion, and unwavering love for her family and friends.
A service to honor Marie's life will be held on May 7, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at the Robert E. Evans Funeral Home, located at 16000 Annapolis Road, Bowie, MD. Family and friends are invited to gather in celebration of her remarkable life, sharing stories and memories that will forever keep her spirit alive.
As we say goodbye to Marie, we take solace in knowing that she is reunited with those she loved dearly, and that her gentle presence will remain in our hearts always. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in her memory to a charity of your choice, reflecting the spirit of generosity that defined her life.
