Marie Brakenberry Schember, a beloved mother, grandmother, and friend to many, left this world on August 25, 2026, at the age of 80. Born on April 8, 1946, in Bad Axe, Michigan, to Doug and Eliza Brakenberry, Marie was a beacon of kindness and warmth throughout her life. Marie spent her career at Active Feed in Pigeon, MI, dedicating 40 years to her work with a steadfast commitment that inspired her colleagues. Beyond her professional life, Marie was known for her creative spirit and nurturing soul. She found immense joy in scrapbooking, capturing precious memories with her family, and crafting sweet desserts that brought smiles to those around her. Yet, her greatest delight was spending time with her beloved grandchildren, Courtney, Lauren, Nicholas, Rachel, and Evan, who were the light of her life. Marie had a unique gift for seeing the light in everyone, regardless of their background. Her genuine kindness and acceptance touched the lives of all who knew her, creating a legacy of love and compassion that will continue to inspire everyone she leaves behind. She was predeceased by her cherished husband, Duane Richard Schember, and is survived by her devoted sons, Philip and Doug Schember. Her memory will be lovingly carried forward by her five grandchildren, who will forever remember her as their sweet, doting grandmother. Though she did not have great-grandchildren, her legacy of love is sure to echo through generations. In accordance with her wishes, a private ceremony will be held to honor Marie’s life. The family kindly asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to a charity of choice, reflecting Marie's generous spirit and lifelong commitment to helping others.
