Born on February 27, 1938, in the charming town of Vacherie, Louisiana, Marie lived a remarkable 88 years, leaving an indelible mark on all who had the pleasure of knowing her. Marie was the cherished daughter of the late Jeffery and Maggie Dumas, and she was predeceased by her beloved siblings, Marcel, Paul, John, Agatha, and Gregory Dumas. She is survived by her sisters, Regina Walker and Bernadette Dumas-Butler, and brothers, Martin Jeffery Dumas and Thomas Dumas, who will forever hold her memory in their hearts. Marie's life was a testament to love in its many forms. She was first married to Morris Favorite in 1958, and from this union, she was blessed with five wonderful children: Bryan Favorite, Melonie Favorite, Jeffery Favorite, Arnold Favorite, and Leroy Edwards. She later found love again with her devoted husbands, Leroy Edwards and Charles Talford. Her family, including a host of grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends, was her pride and joy. Marie was a woman of many talents and passions. She graduated from Magnolia High School and furthered her education at a business school in New Orleans. Her career path led her to dedicate herself to the healthcare profession as a compassionate caregiver and to the educational system, where she inspired and nurtured young minds through various activities. Her professional endeavors were a reflection of her nurturing spirit and her commitment to helping others. Beyond her professional life, Marie was an avid seamstress, a gaming enthusiast, and a lover of gardening and crafting. Her quick wit and talent for storytelling made her the life of every gathering. Marie had a unique ability to make everyone feel welcome, and she never met a stranger. Her infectious laughter and joyful presence left an everlasting impression on all who met her. Though Marie's final years were marked by a courageous battle with dementia, her essence remained unaltered. The love she gave and the joy she spread were never diminished by her illness. Her family wishes to express their deepest gratitude for the support and care she received during this time and encourages donations to the Alzheimer's Association in her honor. A celebration of Marie's life will take place on August 1, 2026, at St. Joseph the Worker Church, 455 Ames Blvd, Marrero, Louisiana. Family and friends are invited to join in honoring a life filled with love, laughter, and compassion.
