Her philanthropic spirit was a testament to her unwavering commitment to helping those in need. Maria was happily married to Crawford W Smith on April 24, 1985, and together they shared 19 years of joy and companionship. Their marriage was a true partnership, filled with love, laughter, and shared adventures. As a beloved Omi, Maria's nurturing presence and gentle wisdom left an indelible mark on her family and friends. Her passion for German needlework, her appreciation for good music, and her love for exploring the world were just a few of the hobbies that brought her immense joy. Maria's adventurous spirit and cultural curiosity enriched her life and inspired those around her to embrace the wonders of the world. Maria was predeceased by her dear brother, Katie Earnst, and her sister, Katharina Kocsis, who she held close in her heart. A service to honor and celebrate Maria's life will be held on November 18, 2026, at 11:15 AM at the Moser Funeral Home, located at 222 Main St. Friends and family are invited to gather and pay tribute to a remarkable woman whose life was a testament to the power of love and generosity. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to the Blue Ridge Area Food Bank in memory of Maria.
