In Loving Memory of Maria Salazar Tapia
Maria Salazar Tapia, a beloved mother, grandmother, and cherished friend, passed away peacefully at her home on October 21, 2026. Born on May 21, 1950, in the humble town of La Pryor, Texas, Maria was the beloved daughter of Rosendo and Lucy Salazar. Her life was a testament to the enduring power of love, faith, and creativity.
Maria was a woman of many talents and a heart full of love. She met her soulmate, Hector Tapia, in high school, and they married in September 1969. Together, they embarked on a journey that took them to Wisconsin, where they built a life filled with love and service. Her beloved Hector and son, Steve, met her in Heaven, along with her brother, George Salazar.
Maria’s professional life was as varied as her interests. She found fulfillment in her roles as an educator and a bookkeeper, but it was her career as an insurance agent that truly captured her heart. Beyond her professional accomplishments, Maria dedicated herself to her community and her faith. A pillar of the First Baptist Church in Hartford, Wisconsin, she led the ladies' group with grace and wisdom for many years. In Uvalde, Texas, she stood beside her husband as the pastor’s wife at Faith Baptist Church, serving with humility and strength.
Her hands were never idle; Maria was a master of many crafts. She painted, sculpted, arranged flowers, sewed, sketched, quilted, macraméd, embroidered, crocheted, photographed, and knitted. Her creative spirit was boundless, and her works were a testament to her vibrant imagination and skillful hands.
Maria’s sharp wit and encyclopedic Biblical knowledge left a lasting impression on everyone she met. Never shy to share her thoughts, her words carried wisdom and insight that enriched the lives of those around her.
She leaves behind her loving daughter, Rebecca Laurent and her husband, Didier, and her treasured grandchildren, Maxime and Camille Laurent. Maria’s legacy of love, creativity, and faith will continue to inspire them and all who knew her.
In honoring Maria’s life, the family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Bridge Hospice for their exceptional care and to Brianna Ahmiche for her devoted support during Maria’s final days.
Her family finds solace in the comforting words of Psalms 23, remembering her life as a reflection of goodness and mercy.
Maria Salazar Tapia’s life was a beautiful tapestry of love, creativity, and unwavering faith. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all whose lives she touched.
